Battery/Alternator

Recently when I turn the car on the battery Alternator message comes on. Voltage is normal. Alternator was recently replaced and battery is a MB battery and was replaced in late 2015. Sometimes it does not come on. WTF?!?! Vehicle has 180,000 miles but still is smooth and runs good. I have maintained the vehicle well.

Check belt tensioner.. do a forum search... it may need to be replaced... Conti kit incl Litens belt tensioner + Conti belt is a good deal..

The battery Alternator warning only comes on when starting the car cold it seems. Also the ESP BAS light (not the info screen one the one in the lower left dash) stays on when key is in position three it does not stay on when car is running.

Please see my earlier reply - YES - you have symptoms of worn belt and/or old style tensioner - or both.

It's your choice to take advice - or not - but frankly you don't want to have "dramatic failure" - like engine goers dead on highway - no power steering - do I have to go on ?
