I'm not sure if I would want to remove the second cat because my car is plenty loud enough now, plus California has tough emisson levels

Dont have any intake pics for you. Just wanted to say hi, Freshyip. Some years ago, my first trip out side the US was to the NT. I stayed in a dorm during my 3 week visit and paid the huge sum of......$30 which covered room
and board. It was an extremely rewarding trip and I walked around the mainland side as well as the Island as much as I could. The images encountered still very vivid in my mind some 20+ years later. I hear the NT has changed quite a bit, from relatives over there. Much more brisk and business centered. take care...

I had an old air box from my '97 E420 and decided to do some messin' around on my 2000 E430. I took out the grille-side of the airbox and installed a cone filter. I fabricated an aluminum lid and heat shield. I left the engine-side of the shield shined aluminum and painted the rest black to match the rest of the engine compartment. I also added a 3" air line coming up from the bumper cover into the bottom of the filter to help with the supply. I ended up dremeling out the solid left hand side air vent in the bumper cover. I have only had it in for a few days, but it definitely sounds better and my rear-end a-hole dyno says it has more torque. I have been getting a mile or two more to the gallon according the on-board computer (when driving normal and not gunning it to hear/feel the difference). Here is my home-made intake:

'97 Renntech E60RS
Renntech carbon fibre intake, with single oval K&N filter in the centre:
Has two 3 1/2" insulated hoses that run down to two big naca ducts under the headlights.
As the car didn't have headlight wash/wipe has two cut outs with mesh for cold air. Naca ducts back right up to mesh.
