It has been assigned to a ship. The next ship goes out tomorrow (10/17) but he doesn't know if it will be on that one or not. There is another ship on the 21st and 24th of October.
Dock date here will be 10/28, 11/2 or 11/6 or sooner depending on what ship the car is on. It will take a week or so for the dealer to get it once it arrives in port.
So it may be possible to get it by the end of October but it looks more like the beginning of November now

E320 4-zone climate control pics
Does anyone know if you order an E320 with a 4-zone climate control system, that you get the digital system that is standard in the E500 for the front passengers and not the usual analog 2-degree increment dials that come standard with the E320. Anyone have pics of this on a E320?

You don't need another picture. If you order the 4-zone system, called thermotronic, on a 320 you will get the exact same thing that comes standard on the 500. For $550 I think it is quite a deal as it upgrades your entire system to digital, adds the sun sensors, makes it four zone, gives the rear passengers their own controls and adds two rear vents, each in the back of the c-pillar. Clever how they route the air for those vents through the front doors.

2003 E-Class
Take a look at my car (http://members.rogers.com/nk2)
It is a base E320 from Canada. Came with 4-zone climate control standard. I assume it is the same in the USA?
I ordered absolutley no options with my car. Paid base price and it had alot of goodies in it already. Only thing I missed out on was the xenons - but even the halogens look blue from far (I assume because of the way they setup the lens). Only when you are close you can tell it is a halogen and not xenon.

It is interesting how they downgraded the standard A/C system in the US version of the 320, seems a bit strange but maybe they figure that at $550 a lot of people will just go for it. I also don't know of too many other (or any other for that matter) cars that give you an option that effects the standard A/C controls. I've heard of options for rear controls but in those cases that is just in addition to the same unit up front.

4-zone temp controls vs 2-zone
One note about why MB takes away the temp *dials* in the 4-zone. In 4-zone, the driver can set the rear temps individually (there's a "swap my controls" button just right of center I believe). To do this in a rational way, MB needed to make the controls digital - otherwise they'd need to figure a way to move the dials back to their 'front' settings after the driver adjusts the 'rear' temps.
Where 2-zone has the eft and right side dials for temperature, 4-zone uses those dials to set airflow direction (window, dash, footwell).
I'm personally accustomed to turning a knob (a la MB headlights) to set 'full blast' on A/C, so the button-pushing for temp/fan speed will take some getting used to.
But I'll live
