CD changer to hidden pocket

Hi guys. I've been lurking around here for a while and finally have a question for the experts! About 3 months ago I picked up an 04 E320 and I love it. I noticed the hidden multi disk changer in the dash. I'm going to get an Ipod setup, and was wondering if I could take out the disk changer and turn it into a little hidden compartment to store stuff? Anyone done this, or have any ideas/ opinions? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can, few but some cars came from the factory that way. I dont have instructions, but it can be removed pretty easy...

2005 E500 with 'some' BRABUS upgrades
Any stereo shop can do it. I have a friend that took his out and the shop he went to custom made a pocket that was from a radio mounting kit for another car. It looked very clean and the electronic door functioned as factory. Its great because people and cops don't have a clue that it's there If you are wondering why he took his out he went with the EuroCommand and had a 12 disc changer installed in the trunk

I've been honestly thinking about doing the same thing for months

There's probably an OEM pocket that can be ordered if you look it up on EPC.

That's actually a pretty cool idea. I don't foresee myself listening to CDs when I have an iPod hookup and satellite radio. Actually even the iPod hookup is becoming useless because of the Sirius.

I don't smoke and my dealer gave me this rubber mat that I can put in place instead of the ash tray and it's a great place to keep a cell phone or keys. What are you planning to store in the disc changer compartment ? Would you by any chance be going up to Canada and bringing home some Cubans ?

No idea what I'm gonna put there. Probably stuff I don't want stolen when I leave my windows down, or go to a ****ty area.

Anyone have other ideas similar to this? Interesting interior mods?

You don't have to understand them, as long as the guy at the parts counter at your local Mercedes dealership does. Or you can try www.buymbparts.com - Rusty is a very good person to deal with and gets parts out quickly. That part does not show up on their web site, but if you call him I feel sure he can get it for you. I usually get my orders in about two days from him and he is usually a good bit cheaper than the dealer, unless your dealer will sell to you wholesale.

updated with pics!

Well I decided to take out thew stock navi, radio, etc. Wound up with a new Kenwood unit. I also spoke with the install guy about changing the cd player into a lil stash spot, this is what I was greeted with. I love it!

I used to have one of the OEM pockets and tossed it when I added a changer to my car. And here I could have bequeathed it to someone!

Not bad, actually. With my single slot able to play MP3's, I never use my cd changer anymore. I could stash about an ounce of weed in that cubby.

Hmmmmmmm

Buy his Video in motion module. This will allow VIM and allow the CD changer door to open once again. Works as advertised.

Sorry the schematic didn't work, ended up being a waste of time.

Hi Ryan. Install looks great! Is it possible for you to share the info on the Shop that did this install? Are you using the little chrome button to operate the door, or did your installer add a new switch to operate it? Thanks in adavance

Hey the vim module for the cdc drawer, how does it work and is it easy to install? With function like ntg1 was before ntg2.5 upgrade?
Thanks in advance!!

If anyone wants the schematic, PM me with your email address and I'll send it.
