2006 E350 DIY Question- what type of oil goes in here?

I just purchased my first Benz and it's a 2006 E350. I was looking under the hood trying to learn about how to maintain this car myself and I noticed the oil level inside this container is low (see picture - red circle). I searched owners manual and found nothing. Can someone tell me what it is and what type of oil I need to add?

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated.

P.S I reused the picture I found from another thread about DIY motor oil change.

Be SURE to use the right stuff! MB uses many proprietary/specific fluids.

Thanks for the info guys. I just got the power steering fluid from my local benz dealer. 1 liter of that stuff costs 50 bucks!

Surprise and welcome to the world of overpaying for owning a MB.

FYI these cars come with Mobil 1 0w-40 and that is what the dealer uses when it is changed. There are many good brands of synthetic oil, just make sure they are on MB's list of approved oil.
