2003 e320 wagon (210 chassis NOT a 211))
ext.warranty

If I buy a w211 ( from a private party ) that has just passed it's time & distance for the original mfg warranty, is it possible to still buy a MBZ extended warranty out to 100,000 miles / 7 years total? (I think 100k/7yrs is the max for a MBZ extended warranty). If so, roughly how much does this cost? Do I (can I) buy it direct from MBUSA or do you have to buy it from a dealer? Is it a flat fee generally, or is it negotiable with the dealer (i.e. do they add in some profit?)

Or will MBUSA only do this for a CPO car?

Thanks!

Hey there "K"

Nope! you can get that 1 of a kind mercedes CPO extended warranty once it expires. You can get a 3rd party warranty, which IMHO all suck. I took the advice from peeps on the board to put about $4000 away and just use it for repairs you might need. Why invest in and pay a crappy 3rd party extended warranty when they might not come through for you.

Was that a typo, or did you just say that I can get a cpo warranty for a car whose original warranty has expired? Even if said car is purchased from a private party?

sorry about that. It was a typo. You cant get MB CPO warranty once the original warranty has expired. You can only get 3rd party extended warranty.

2019 E-450 Wagon
I bought an Extended Warranty from the Merc dealer 2 days ago:

Easy Care/Total Care, 36 months/36000 miles, $250.00 deductible, $3085.00.

The 2004 E-500 4Matic Wagon has 74,450 miles.

Had to get the car inspected first at the MB shop and of course they found some crap..Having it fixed now at high $, but that is life in the fast lane.

Hey Norse,

you bought one from mercedes but its not the MB Certified extended warranty. You still purchased a 3rd party warranty it just happens that your dealership sold it to you.

You will probably have to go to third party, MB will only extend if it is still under their warranty.
There are reputable 3rd party companies out there, Chrysler seems to be the most popular with the AMG crowd. I myself have a GM plan that has already paid out half of what I paid them with no arguement. Almost all will want an inspection unless you are under a warranty or service contract already.
