convenience easy entry on 2006 e350

about 2 years ago i brought the car in for routine service and when i got back all of the convenience setting were non functional. i manage to reset most of them except for 1. the easy entry where the seat moves back when you open the door no longer works. the steering wheel i manage to get it to go up and down auto when i get in the car. i tried to go into the settings and no matter what i do, it skips over the setting for the convenience seat. i was going to return to the dealer but since i dont use the car much i forgot. now they tell me its too late and wanted to charge me $200 just to run a diagnostic test on it. anything i can do or try? thanks

Well you could scan it for error codes but if you search the old threads, it breaks all the time, you should just leave it disabled. I believe there's a gear that gets stripped and what causes it to break is if you apply force to the steering wheel while it's moving when getting in/out.

thanks for the reply. when you mention stripped gears, my car seat still able to move in and out with the buttons on the door. it just no longer move in and out as a convenience function. the funny thing is the area in the instrument panel skips over the seat convenience function.... ie. i cant get to it to re-enable it but the steering wheel still has the convenience feature working. i wonder what the dealer did cause when i got the car back ever convenience was off

I haven’t had the W211 for 10 years, but I do remember that there was a way to disable the seat easy entry feature. It may have been in the engineering menu. I just don’t have any info on the car to help further.
