Bolt 1 inch above both front tires
Hello,
How did anyone put 18-19 inch rims on the E500? I looked on top of both front tires. On the very top of the front tires, there is a bolt hanging off the suspension that over hangs about 1 inch from the tires. How can it be possible to put 19 inch rims on the car even with low profile tires without the tire hitting this bolt?
Thanks...

I believe it is possible. The profile would be small enough to keep the total wheel diameter the same as with the 17", while being at 19" or whatever. The space between the tire and the bolt is kept constant as the bolt its on the suspension with the tire, so when a bump jolts the tires up into the well, the bolt jolts up as well because they are both intertwined into the suspension kit.
At first I was scared that a bump would ram the tire up into the bolt as well, but then I came up with this reasoning and it makes sense.

It should be the airmatic control arm above the tire. Don't worry 20's will fit the W211 with Airmatic, i have even seen 255/35/20 tires which has an overall diameter of 27.1 inches compared to the stock 25.7".
