Exclamation 2003 E320 Complete Brake Failure

On Monday 12-13-2010 had a complete brake failure on my 2003 E320 with just 50K miles. "Visit work shop" light came on, so I read some blogs & threads. Flushed brake lines, replaced with DOT 4 fluid and replaced stop switch AND pulled pin out fully before switch install. Still have" visit work shop" light and afraid to drive it. SBC recall was done in 04. Could it have gone bad again? 10 year warranty on SBC, but closest dealer is 40 miles away. Any suggestions?

Was it "Complete brake failure" with no brakes at all or loss of brake boost?

Was sitting in the driveway (luckily) with foot on the brake, put the car in gear and it took off. Had to throw it in neutral & coast to a stop.

I'm pretty sure I had the same issue with my C240. It was an 02 and the MB tech's never could figure out the problem. Apparently MB had some kid of "kit" that added brake lines, and some other stuff. My car was having trouble producing vacuum.

Good to hear it's not an isolated case. Gonna try one more stop switch and if that doesn't clear codes and fix problems will get MB to replace SBC pump & sensor under 10 year warranty. Love the car but gotta feel safe!
