E320 Thinks My Passenger Door is Open
Hi,
I have an 2007 E320 and it's acting a little funny. Before I take it to the dealership, I wonder if I can fix the problem myself. A couple of days ago, the car started telling me that my right passenger door is open. It's obviously some sort of sensor issue because the door is completely shut. I can erase the message by hitting the reset button, but when the car slows to either a near/complete stop, the message alert kicks in again.
I don't mind ignoring it for awhile, but the problem has gotten worse. Now when I leave the car, the front light near the rear view mirror remains on. Regardless if I lock the door or leave it unlocked, it doesn't dim. If I stay inside the car and hit the light button, it will turn off. But if I leave the car and shut the door, the light stays on.
My only solution has been to leave my driver's side door open. But I have to work tomorrow, and I'm afraid that the light won't turn off and will drain my battery.
I assume the light stays on because it still thinks the passenger side door is open. Is there a solution? Is this a known problem? Any way to at least temporarily trick it into thinking the door is truly closed?
Thanks.

Door open problem - any news
Hello - I have the identical problem after doing a door swap on my 2007 E320. I have changed over all the locks, control unit, and door handles as the old door had keyless entry even though this feature had never worked.
I was hoping that someone has found a resolution to this problem or can at least offer some suggestions? Many thanks.

Thanks
It was indeed the switch - I had not touched it but I had also failed to refit the plastic cover over the back of the lock which I can now see is essential to operate the switch. I am so pleased to be able to lock the car again. Thanks for your help.
