Ok guys, I need help translating. The datacard on that russian link gives me two different engine related numbers. The first is this: engine 273962 30 059026
and the second one is: MTRSAC A2730102602.

According to Konigstiger's 2/18/11 Post, "M273 (550) up to 088611"
I'm wondering which one of these is the true serial number. Thanks again

30 059026 - you should already have a copy of your datacard from our email correspondence concerning TC. Check your email sent another copy along with DTB confirming engine clean point.

I just had the same problem. Timing Gear (Sprocket) failure with only 60K miles. Dealer quoted at least $4500. They gave me a number to call MB directly to complain and basically they blew me off and told me they would not do anything to help but asked me to contact dealer for some relief on the cost. I found a certified MB shop (not a dealership) to pull the motor and repair for $3100.

If anybody has gotten MB to help with costs please reply. Thanks

I had the MB Dealer repair this problem in Oct. 2011 and the check engine light came on and is throwing the same code. Does this have anything to do with the Defective Gears on the M272 engines?

My engine serial is 272964 30 100463 and appears to be within the problem window.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am at the final stages of researching purchasing a W211 (either E350 or E500). Unfortunately, it would appear that all of the cars I am looking at have the possibility of being in the range of this issue.

I have tried unsuccessfully multiple times to subscribe to the Mercedes EPC online website to check the engine numbers of the vehicles I am looking at for this problem.

Can someone help me determine what the Engine numbers for the following cars are?

1. WDBUF70J85A672972 (2005 E500)
2. WDBUF70J96A942390 (2006 E500)
3. WDBUF56X17B032096 (2007 E350)
4. WDBUF56XX8B249681 (2008 E350)

First: The E500 don't have the M273 engines, those would be the E550 (MY07 And Up).

3. 2007 E350

Engine Serial Number:272964 30 451670.

272 engines up to 30 468993 are affected and thus this engine is affected.

4. 2008 E350:
Engine Serial Number: 272964 30 774147

Engine not affected.

Is the 2007 E550 affected? I haven't experienced any issues but so far in the page of the thread I've read it doesn't look like it's on the class action lawsuit. No conclusive answer if this MY is included from reading this thread so far so I'm a but confused, but I will post my VIN tomorrow so someone can run it if they so please. Thanks.

Check fuel tank to see how it is going then you will understand why the engine failure won't be covered either.

I'm well aware haha, it's pretty incredible that these two known issues have gone so far ignored. Thanks for the updates you've done on that issue on the other thread though, as well as that story you mentioned about a possible victim of SBC failure. Frightening to say the least.
