Tomorrow turned into a week, but finally got the front brakes done.

3 little hickups.

1) The caliper slide pins are 9MM Hex, a tool only found in MB service centers it seems.

Fixed that with a 3/8" hex and a grinder. Just kept touching up each flat till it fit in a 9MM socket.

2) The right side rotor screw (the little one that hold the rotor to the hub) head was stripped out. MB dealer did that last set of brakes, so I know who did it.

Fixed that by putting a slot in it with a dremmel and using a flat blade screwdriver. Will put in a new screw when I get one.

3) When changing the brake fluid, I noticed that one section of the reservoir still looked a little amber. Not sure why that section did not get drained, but it is not too bad so not going to worry about it.

It's amazing how every single set out there has everything but a 9mm Hex, ended up paying $50 to get a set that had one at autozone. I guess grinder or MB tool is another solution

Yes, I saw the $50 set at AutoZone, but was not about to pay $50 for a set that duplicates (and misses a lot) of a $30 set I just got.

3/8" Hex ($3) and 10 minutes at the grinder worked great.

3/8" is about 9.5MM, so you are taking just 1/4 a mm off each flat.

$1500 worth of love at my favorite Indy:

*One new rear tire (other one on the way) Michelin Pilot HX MXM4
*New Arnott Rear Air Springs installed (bought them from partsgeek; he put them in)
*New Front Brake Rotors (Textar) and Pads (Akebono Euro Ceramic)
*4-wheel Alignment
*Installed new grommets on transmission to eliminate a little vibration
*Installed the 4500K Morimoto bulbs I recently bought. They are so nice and bright!

Recently, the power steering pump was making noise on every turn of the wheel. Put in a little more Pentosin CHF11S from Advance Auto Parts (the only authorized fluid on Bevo), and voila. Indy checked it -- no leaks.

She's got over 125,000 miles, and still runs like a dream.

Noticed my head restraints were "not right" and figured out there deployed when my wife was hit from behind.

Wondering why the "experts" that did the repair estimates did not notice.

Going to have to try to reset them myself. Hope it works, else will go back to the body shop and let them bill the insurance co.

Last week I've removed the turbo, took it to the turbo specialist for him to "make it new again", installed it again and changed the oil, all the filters and replaced all the turbo joints.

Reaching almost 200000km (more or less 125000 miles) it was time for me to check its condition and as far as I know, it was pretty good. I just prefer to make this kind of maintenance, correct possible flaws before they appear

Headrest did not move back.

Going to take it back to the body shop and let them deal with it.

Picked up my 2007 E350 from the dealership, after replacing the fuel tank/fuel pump as a part of extended warranty, due to gas smell after fill up. No charge, just a $55.00 loaner (ML350) gas.

What's that like? Have you ever driven it with all season radials? How does it compare?

That is a great looking W211! Please make sure they are the best in your area, would hate to see that amazing paint get ruined with the crap paint used today.
My 2003 looks about as nice as yours, and has a deeper and more shiny black than my 2015 black X166!
Back to the point of this thread:
Tuesday - deep clean on the exterior, polish, wax.
Wednesday - interior deep clean. All carpeting and mats, seats cleaned and re-conditioned.
Saturday - rear brake pads and rotors. While I was at it I painted the caliper brace and brake pad clip. I also removed the rust off the lug bolts and painted those as well. Left the calipers themselves aloe because, when they are clean again, they don't have any rust or stains.

Engine Mounts

Replaced engine mounts yesterday. Used original parts.
Teamed with new rear springs and multiple new front suspension components my E now rides as good as new!!!!
In all seriousness I can't stress enough about how much difference the mounts made. If your mounts are over 7 years old, do yourself a favor and replace them (mine were 13 years old!) You will not regret it.
I will go out on a limb and dare say that my 160k+ mile 2003 now rides better than the new Sport E Class of today. By better I mean more comfortable
It's amazing how much road noise is transferred through the engine, not just engine vibration
