2006 E500 RWD
2006 E500 RWD 722.9 tranny issues

Can anyone help! I have a 2006 E500 RWD with 96,000 miles on it. About a week ago I was coming to a red light and felt a harsh shift (in C mode) at exactly 10mph. I also have a harsh 1-2 shift in s mode. I brought it to an indy shop and no codes were present. Took it to dealer to update software and flash it, but no software available. Also dealer found no codes. The 3-2 shift after re- adapt was -20. The dealer claims I need to replace circlips (snap rings) and disc springs for $3600 (600 for parts and 3000 for labor. Should this happen to a late model vehicle. It is out of warranty and want to know if there is any recourse. I saw a bulletin that said these were installed incorrectly in the first place. Apparently I am at the mercy of the dealer according to another specialist here in charleston, sc. Is the dealer the only one who can fix this problem? I hope not at labor rates of $152 and hour for a 20 hour job.

Below is the bulletin

Thanks
