Park Lamps will not go out.

2005 E500, two days ago the power trunk stopped working and tonight the two front park lights will not go out, all others are out and everything seems to be in order, no messages in the message center. Have had no trouble with the car other than the CPS which is common.

Suggestions? Should I disconnect the main battery? They are just two LED bulbs.

Thanks

Change the bulbs back to incandescent, see if the problem goes away.

The LED's have been in there for several years, I do not think they are causing this. Does the E500 have some type of alert system that turns the two front park lamps on to notify you that the sunroof is not fully closed or something. I have read through the manual but cannot find anything, but seems like the lights are on deliberately. I have not had the car that long and are largely unfamiliar with all the features, however I have known the car for many years, I will ask the former owner at work today if he knows anything, any responses are greatly appreciated...

Did you resolve the trunk issue? Looking for a common cause (of course), I might suspect a dodgy ground wire connection. Have you looked in the trunk wiring for fraying, etc in that regard?

Maybe related thread-or at least shows you how to get to and look at the wiring-

may seem stupid, but did you happen to make sure your headlamp switch wasn't turned to the position past the '0' (off) setting to the left? I did that a few times and I'm not positive what it does but it leaves certain lights on after the car is turned off.

I checked that several times before I started the thread. Seems like there is a SAM module for each park lamp on the left and the right side. I cannot understand what would cause both SAM's to malfunction and turn both park lamps on together. Seems to me that whatever triggers the SAM's would be most likely getting to the root of the problem...any body had any experiance with either a left or right SAM that could shed so light on this??

Thx

Frank
