Removing rear seat cushion to inspect Fuel Sending unit
Newbie here, but wanted to ask about removing the rear seat cushion to inspect the fuel sending unit after the common smell of gas after a fill up.
The car: 2006 e350 (base sedan)
The issue: I have looked all over the interwebs and cannot seem to find a detail set of images or how-to to remove a non-spilt/non-fold down rear seat. The rear seat cushion is all one piece and there does not seem to be the these tabs or bolts that I am seeing from the other how-to's.
MB World pro's, do you simply just ****** up the rear seat like movie villain and hope that no retainer clips etc are damaged in the process or is there some sneaky magic button to press to release this mystery?
Once this secret is learned, I will post pics of removing this for others.

There are 2 cut outs in the seat cushion where ones calves are. Inside the hole you will fee a metal spring. Push it in with your index finger and lift up a little bit. Repeat on the other side. Don't put your weight on the cushion or you won't be able to pull up the cushion. Just follow the cushion line where the carpet meets the cushion and you will find it.

Thank you MackHack!
I will post images of this if I can get to it this evening.
Question: Does this best belong in this thread or another?

Removing rear seat cushion to inspect Fuel Sending unit
After many days passed, I ended up taking the E350 to the dealer to get the tank replaced under warranty. I never got to pull up the seat and inspect the tank for myself, but hope that the new tank that was installed resolves the issue.
Replaced Items list:
Fuel Tank,
O-ring seal (fuel pump),
Cable Harness,
All screws/bolts/grommets/misc parts
Cleared CEL for P0455 error code.
Thank you all for your help and posts regarding this.
Sincerely,

Hi there - 2004 E55 checking in - I've had the same fuel smell symptoms for awhile now, and before tackling the job - I decided to go with the dealership recall attempt, armed with this (and other threads)
I brought it Mercedes of Georgetown (Austin) just reporting symptoms limited to 'fuel smell' and closed with 'extended recall/lawsuit' quip. (have ecl evap code which may or may not be related - we will see soon - cleared codes prior to visit) I just got it back today - new entire tank, seals and the lot
$0.00
Cheers!

On my 03' E500. I recently been getting the "Check Engine" light with code P0456. When I took my car into the dealer for other issues my service adviser informed me of the Fuel Tank Extended Warranty. That may be what I need. I scheduled an appointment for the following week. Had everything repaired at no charge. No code P0456 so far.

As far as I can tell there has been no new materials used in these parts or redesign. This is just to run out the clock on the extension.
My expirence with MBZ of Georgetown was very different then yours and required calls to MBZ before they would handle my reimbursement for the parts on my E63.

No need to file anything
2009 e350 wagon 134KI recently had a gas smell. Took it to dealer, they were familiar with the issue, found the leak to be around my sensor. They fixed it no charge, no hassle.
