MB Star Diag Tool question

So I got my MB Star C3 diag tool today..

Got some questions:

I understand where the OBDII cable connects but there are a couple cables and no instructions. (OK- if you need instructions you shouldn't be using it..yada , yada)...I won't learn until I try.

1- A - GG labeled cable end (connects to diag box) to 38 pin metalic cannon plug type connector- connects where ??

2- RS 232 - RS 485 cable is my computer to Diag box cable

3- A - GG cable end to OBDII cable

4- A - GG cable end to 14 pin plastic cannon plug type connector - connects Where?

5- A - GG cable end to 4 banana plug ends labeled +12v-red, KL.15-white, signal-yellow, and masse-black - connects where?

Any help on where the connections go?? I want to start doing my own work so I need to know.

the same place as -sinewave listed previously.

Thanks

You have a cable, one end connects to the car diagnostic plug the other end to the Mux. Then on the other end of the Mux you have a cable that connects from the mux to the serial port on the lap top. After you connect al the cable then and only then turn the ignition on.

Within the diagnostic software the is an "info" icon----spend a week or two reading about the system and its capabilities before you plug into a car and depending on what version you purchased there is a "simulation mode" after reading run the simulation mode and then maybe you are ready to "quick test" a car.

The 38 pin big round connector is for cars like the W202 and W210 and other of the same age. The 14 pin cable is for Sprinters, older ones. The 4-pin cable is for very old cars that hardly have anything to diagnose, like W124.

You should have some instructions on your computer if the SW is properly installed.

M/B diag help thanks

Thank you to everyone.

I am awaiting delivery of the NIB, IBM T30. Yup there were a couple that never got taken out of the box. The original battery was shot but a new one was included.

Thank you for the explanation of the cables, I guess I will only be using the OBDII cable. Once I get the computer, I'll install the included HD and start using the "Simulate mode".

I have to do some suspension leveling and enable my phone first and then I'll start rooting round and "looking" at things without changing anything.

I'll post when I learn new things and hopefully help out others as well.
