Arrow Star DAS CGW Dev Translation

So as part of my working with DAS developer to enable TPLW, I decided to translate the CGW items. As this was not a particular preasure of mine I decided to post it on the chance someone else might find it useful.

Regards!

Any ideas how to enable the USA side marker lights and still keep the RDW configuration. I have been unsuccessful for the last 3 years. I can turn the side markers on through the activation menu but, of course, they turn off when you exit DAS.

I'm actually interested on this myself but have not looked into it, I'm not very hopeful though...
Actuation is done in front SAM I suppose?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but has anyone found out a definitive answer?

I believe the answer is within the developer mode. Someone or thing will have to excite VII to spend the hours drilling down into the German language developer mode for the answer!!

Yes. Its definitely in developer mode. I did notice one setting when messing around in the front SAM module. I will have to go in and read it and then post it. Im tempted to do the RDW coding to get away from some of the stupid restrictions of the USA code, but not sure what else I might loose, despite a lot to gain. It would seem easy enough to turn the side marker lights back on, but from the limited time spent I tried, it doesn't appear so.

Does it also turn off the rear side markers too? I'm tempted to change my coding to RDW from USA, but would like to know if I could revert back to USA without losing any of my coding's, both original and modified. I know its done in the CGW module. Also, would I lose any of my coding mods ive done thus far? Sorry for all the questions. I have been getting a lot of face time with my own DAS developer mode. Ive done some nice mods thus far that I will post soon. One of them is showing the tirepressures on the IC without any errors with the "USA Low-line tpms". It took a week of trial and error but finally got it figured out.

I will say this, I am learning the German language, albeit with some reluctance . Google translate=friend

A quicker but less educational would be to post your question in the DK Forums DAS Xentry Developer mode tips amd tricks thread---the answer will suprise you!!

Took a quick look Saturday while I was working on something else and there is nothing obvious to enable them back in the Drivers SAM. I will be looking around some more as I am trying to get SBC Start-Stop enabled but these cars just have so many modules and star is so slow and its summer and I hate heat...

VII,

I am also trying to enable the "Active Brake" Hold function as well (im assuming that's what your referring to when you say start/stop sbc). I haven't been in DAS in a while now because to be honest sometimes it just frustrates me, not to mention I get crap from the GF, and yes, it is slow.

I did some playing around and it seems I definitely need to code the CGW to RDW (from USA) to even get to the appropriate options to enable any hold features in the active brake module. I did see a "hil holder" function in the IC menu. I'm reluctant to change from USA to RDW until I collect enough data (or take screen shots) of my current config, as I don't know what it will change and in what modules. Is there an easy way to save all the control module settings? Whenever I try to download them, I get an error.

Thanks!

Don't worry the localization of the CGW is just a high level change and does not "reprogram" the ECUs, it is completely reversible.
The SBC-Hold you will get by just changing to RDW, no other coding needed.
The only thing you will loose are those corner lamps in the bumper as they were not fitted to RDW cars. (As far as I can remember)
Hill holder is something else and is already enabled, let go of the brake and gas on a steep and you will not roll back.

What I want to enable is the SBC-Stop which was disabled from all later SBC equipped cars (like mine), it's a function for stop and go traffic that actuates the brakes when you let go of the gas so operation of the vehicle is reduced to one pedal.
The option is still there as you can see it in the actual coding values in ESP but there is no way to change it without a password for the special function menu which I still don't know how to get

I tried this but the hold feature does not work. I think your car might have the older SBC system still, just crippled by software blocks. Mine (2009) has what they call the ABR (active brake module), instead of SBC . I have heard that it will work on a hill, but initial tests are prognosis negative

perhaps these will help ...

Yes, the Left Front Side Marker (E6/1) and Right Front Side Marker Lamp (E6/2) are USA only options and both connect to the N10/1 Driver-side SAM control module at I12 #2 and #1 as noted in Wiring diagram pe54.21-u-2109-99dd.

Being that these are USA only, do they even have anything connected to the appropriate front SAM control module?

With the RDW setting, instead of just turning on the side marker lamps, I would like to tie them to the turn signals. I was hoping to find a way to add the side marker lamp to the turn signal circuit at SAM module, if not through SDS Developer mode, then by moving the side marker lamp wire. Here's what I found

- LH Side Marker - LH Drivers-side SAM I12-2
- RH Side Marker - LH Drivers-side SAM I12-1

- LH Turn Signal - LH Drivers-side SAM M3-5
- RH Turn Signal - RH Passenger-side SAM I3-1

While both Side Markers AND the LH Turn Signal are in the Drivers-side SAM, it looks like the RH Turn Signal is separate from the side Marker lamps on the Passenger-side SAM.

Next thought is just to splice the Side Marker Lamp wire to the Turn Signal wire near the headlamp plugs:

(> 5/31/2006 - pre-facelift)

- LH Turn Signal - GreyBlk in S1-4
- LH Side Marker - GreyBlk >--^ (cutting the wire from the SAM)

- RH Turn Signal - BlkGrn in S1-4
- RH Side Marker - GryRed >--^ (cutting the wire from the SAM)

I'm thinking I should probably cut the marker lamp wire to prevent the SAM from sending Side Marker Lamp voltage into the Turn Signal circuit in case the CGW setting was reset to USA.

Any thoughts?

Re-wired the side marker lamps

It works!
I cut the Side Marker Lamp wires as noted in my previous post, then wired:

- LH Side Marker - GreyBlk >--v (cutting the wire from the SAM)
- LH Turn Signal - GreyBlk in S1-4

- RH Side Marker - GryRed >--v (cutting the wire from the SAM)
- RH Turn Signal - BlkGrn in S1-4

Side Marker Lamps are now Turn Signal Lamps.
