Another wheel fitment issue/problem?

Hey,

I just got my AMG monoblock in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 ET35 all around and had them installed today with 235/40's all around but after driving a few hundred meters I noticed a strange feeling like it was rubbing somewhere, so I went back to the rim shop and took off the front and noticed a scratch/scuff around the inner wheel so I took a measuring tape and measured... measured the same distance from the hub to the pad as I thought it might be the case and it was... so I put a 5mm spacer in front and got longer bolts installed and after driving I STILL have the same problem.

At low speeds and braking you can harsh feel it, but at normal driving speeds I feel nothing... I checked and it clears the pad without issues now... so what might the problem be?!

Thanks a lot for the help!

(AMG Monoblock do look awesome on the W211! ) I will get some pictures once the car is clean!

OK so today I changed the 2 front tires with brand new ones and the sound is much lower but still there. I feel that there is still something wrong but I couldn't say what. The car is bumpy and there is a slight shimmy in the steering wheel from 15 to 40 km/h. Tires have been balanced and wheels are not bent. I didn't align the wheels yet though so I will do it tomorrow and report back.

Could be your 5mm spacers aren't centered right since they aren't hub centric. The rear studs if to long can make contact with parts of the parking brake system in the rears.

I agree with the above, with 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 you should have more than enough clearance with a 35mm offset and an additional 5mm spacer... rubbing on the inside seems highly unlikely, but I wouldn't run the spacer unless you absolutely have to. I saw your wheels in the other thread by the way, lookin good!

OK very good advice! I will go to this other wheel shop tomorrow and ask them.

AMGAffalterbach, thanks for the good words. Car doesn't look half as nice as your but I am working on it. I did black out all the chrome today so it just needs a good cleaning and I will put more pics!
