I have a 2003 E with OEM headlights with OEM HIDs. My car is currently at the body shop for some work so I am considering updating them to the facelift W211 headlights. Can anybody please let me know what I need for this?

1. Do I need to buy a specific 2006.5+ headlight or can I use any one?
2. Can I use my existing HID system?

If you wanted, you could buy aftermarket and put in an aftermarket HID. If so inclined you could crack open the body and replace the lens with HID lens. You could also buy an aftermarket set with HIDs installed. As far as installing the 2008 system with your wiring, I do not have that answer.

I will say that the wiring changed so the shop would have to convert the wiring if you used oem 07-09 lights. I have seen on ebay they make lights to upgrade the 03-06 cars to the new style but most are probably not up to oem standards and your output might get worse( don't have personal experience maybe someone on here does but that's usually what happens) I will say that I did see some lights made to be just like the OEM lights in your car that look like the new style and I believe use the parts from the old one such as bulbs, ballasts and igniter made by depo I believe. If you go that route if your bulbs are older I would replace them with new Orsman or Philips bulbs (make sure you don't get fakes buying straight from amazon or a trusted store is recommended) as many people neglect to replace HID bulbs as they don't actually burn out usulay they just color shift and stop putting out as many lumen.
