2008 E350 4MATIC ABS/ESP Inoperable
Pulled the ABS codes last night using an inexpensive ODBII & ABS scanner, and got the following codes:
C04B1
C049C
C0498 - Steering assist
C3266 - Cruise control
I'm thinking it's one of the wheel ABS / speed sensors, but cannot find any information on the internet, and tried JustAnswer and a Mercedes technician was unable to find any reference in his material, but he only had access to engine codes.
Can somebody with a STAR diagnostics please lookup the C04B1 and C049C to let me know which wheel sensor is bad (I'm assuming that's the issue, and not the brake switch).
Thanks much!
Mike

Hum... don't think I'm going to be getting a response on this one..
Oddly enough, today on the way to work, the ABS/ESP Inoperable lights didn't come on (did for the last 5 days), so I must have a dirty sensor, lose or corroded connector or bad wire on one of the ABS wheel speed sensors.
Took this as an opportunity to get my safety inspection, which is due before the end of the month! Ha!
When I get some time, I'll be taking each tire off, removing each sensor and checking to see if it's dirty/corroded, and checking the wires/connections.
Cheers!

ESP Inop for me yesterday. I'm pretty sure mine is the brake switch as my keyless go wouldn't start at first... then it did and then a few miles later right when I depressed the brake pedal the ESP Inop triangle came on. I'm going to hook-up SDS tomorrow and when I do I'll try to look for the error code you've listed above.

Oh, good deal...that would be terrific if you can decode that ABS code.
Even through I was able to get to work yesterday without throwing any codes, and pass my state safety inspection, on the way home last night on the highway, I hit a rough spot/small pot holes, and the jarring turned on the ABS, ESP Inoperable lights...steering got heavy, etc... so, I've got a bad electrical connection on one of the sensors is my guess.
Knowing which sensor would really be helpful.

I finally got under the car today to visually inspect each of the ABS sensors, and it became quickly obvious which was the offending one... my left rear sensor wire was being abraded by the left rear drive axle because the clip which holds the wire in place, had worked itself off of the metal tab, and the wire pulled out of the upper clip as well, so it was randomly banging against the drive axle and getting it's insulation worn away to the point where the bare wires were frayed causing intermittent operation.
Quickly put on a replacement made by PEX for $54 and all is well.
This would have been at least a $450 deal at the stealer or independent. Local guy quoted me $150 for STAR diagnosis, $165 for MB replacement part, and $140 for labor. Job took me 20 minutes.
Life is good now with power steering :-)

Glad you got this fixed. I completely forgot to look at the codes. Kids were out for Spring Break and my errors went away and I forgot. If I ever do remember I will be sure and look at the codes and report them for future reference.

Ok so, I replaced the pedal worked fine for two days then again same issue/ codes (P2127 P2138 ). trying avoid the dealership trip.
-Replaced brake switch , still the same issue
-Replaced the pedal worked for two days then same issue, when the issue about to kick in it reves higher on its own.
Anyone had these codes and fixed the issue them self or when visiting the dealership
