Crafty, don't listen to OP you were just giving your honest opinion and if anyone has done it right here as far as a lowered car is concerned, it's probably you (and Beejay), so don't worry that he's all hurt about it. I laughed at the work being done at a reputable shop though lol hahah. That's awesome you get to travel like that though, can't wait to finish university and do the same, what field of work are you in if you don't mind me asking?

Glad you guys all had a good laugh on my behalf.

I have been on many forums before, usually peeps come back with constructive input rather than the stuff you guys come back with.

But not to worry, I will no longer be part of this and then you can find another guy you need to make rude comments to and can have a laugh about.

I am out.

And just for the record, YES, I am hurt about he way you guys were responding.

Mate if you back track on your own thread, youll see nothing but constructive inputs in there. Nobody ridiculed you or your car. Its just that youre a bit deffensive and you took our suggestions in a negative way. I learned a lot from this forum myself and i can assure you that the members here are way more supportive than other forums.

Thank you.

With all due respect, maybe you need to go back and re-read.

Nowhere did I ask for suggestions on how to lower my car. When it was brought up I mentioned that I am not into lowering.
But that was not enough, I still had to be convinced that lowering is the way to go, even though I had already mentioned this was not for me.
To each their own, ........... once I say it's a Mercedes and therefore I would not lower it, I am accused of thinking I was god because of the star and that respect for me was lost. In reality, I think someone else's feelings were hurt becauseI did not like the lowering suggestion.

Seriously, you guys call this constructive input? Maybe I am too old school and being raised in Germany where respect still means something today.

The next thing is peeps making fun of the "reputable shop" comment I made and basically giving an honest business man a bad review.

Not sure how it works down under, but where I come from I do not call this constructive input.
What I call it is bullying a guy on a forum who did not like a suggestion of lowering his car.

"Don't worry, the OP is just hurt" or making fun of my choice of wheels. Yeah, that is constructive input all right.

Well said Beejay.

S70, by your logic, any reactionary or slightly controversial response to your thread can be taken as offensive slander, that's not how forums work - MBWorld is one of the most helpful forums full of a bunch of people that really know about their respective vehicles. You can't expect us to sit here and reply with only praise and brief approval... you got offended when I asked you about a 255 tire on a 9.5" rim, it was an honest question. Beejay and Crafty are two senior members here that have become really reliable and genuinely helpful resources when it comes to working on or modifying the W211 platform, so you can't sit there and say "it's a Mercedes why are you modifying it" because you'll probably **** off about 60% of the people on the forum, rather than stating it's not my style or simply that you don't want to.

Calm down a bit man, we are here to help and share a love of Mercedes not scrutinize your choices.

You guys are a tough crowd, it is tough to become a part of the good old boys clique.

In no shape or form did I say one should NOT modify a Mercedes and I thought by my comment I stated that is was not for me. If this was misunderstood then I am sorry.

I was also not offended by your question about my tire size, but guess it came across that way.

With that said, please accept my apology for the things that may have come across wrong and I hope I will still be an acceptable guest this party.

Again, MY APOLOGIES and I hope you ALL will have a nice day.

well that escalated quickly

honestly, i wasn't even "criticizing" you when i suggested lowering springs. i suggested it because when you went smaller tires it looks slightly out of place with more wheel gap than stock. i only say that because i was there once. you said it wasn't for you because it's your family car and didn't want it to rub sag etc. i merely pointed out the fact that for the reasons you did NOT want to put in lowering springs, that the lowering springs would actually help you far more in those aspects than just the aesthetic. there was never an attempt to sway you or disrespect you.

you are the one that came out swinging with oh this is a mercedes, i got this work done at a reputable shop, and i have 1,000 likes on instagram. i built my car with my own two hands in my driveway, multiple features online, and even more i turned down because at the end of the day that's not my thing, you want to count instagram likes? i lost count about two years ago.

i just think it's hypocritical of you to tell me to leave the forums i won't be missed and then cry about how people are "disrespecting" you and you are are going to leave the forums. the internet is way to harsh a place to take anything personal. zero hard feelings from me, i really do you hope you enjoy your car and you mod it to however makes you happy. if i would have listened to anyone including these forums members i would have sold mine three years ago.

P.S.
your monoblocks on a 210 is my favorite look for those E's

No hard feelings from me either and I do agree, I did come out swinging and would like to apologize for this once more.

I am glad we all have no hard feelings.

But now let me ask all you PRO'S AGAIN, (and this time I will be able to take the criticism if you think it is needed), do you think my car looks stupid, .......... or do you still think it looks good but could look better? HONESTLY please.

I am just not into lowering as I have never done it and would also like to safe some dollars by not doing it.

Thanks guys.

I don't think it looks stupid by any means.

Just for me I lower literally everything I own so to me the wheel gap is just a LITTLE un-proportional to the size of the wheels/tires so that's the only thing I notice but I think to anyone else you wouldn't know the difference.

Lowering springs usually have a higher spring rate, meaning the will be stiffer. By no means will lowering springs give a harsh ride. I honestly didn't like how my 211 drove stock, I thought it was a little sloppy. After the spring I totally felt it drove a lot better, good thing about springs too is you shouldn't be paying much more than $200 for a set, just find the ones with the smallest drop. It'll be like 3/4" to 1"

You'll lower the center of mass and the suspension won't give as much with the higher spring rates which is a double plus for handling

honestly, apart from whats already mentioned. (lowering springs and 5-10mm rear spacer) your car looks proper. you DONT need to lower your car but it will definitely drive and handle much better.

if I havent said it yet. you have a nice merc there. its how you see your car, at the end of the day. thats whats important.

Glad you guys got that straightened out its nice when people man up and say sorry and shake hands like gentlemen if you want to read some funny stuff check out the AMG sections lol they are not men they are mostly boys with fast toys and small um.... lol

S70 we are a good bunch but the problem with forums is tones can't be conveyed well and things can escalate quickly. So how long have you had your e320?

Jesus, this thread was a roller coaster.

I actually just got a set of these wheels, they look great on the car. I have a black car, but sure I would be happy with the silver but they are beautiful on yours.

Thanks for your input and I do agree with all you said.

I have had this E320 for about 2 months. Bought it with 72k miles on it.
It had an extended warranty and came with a pack of service history all done at the MB Dealership. Had new brakes and rotors all around as well just a month prior to me purchasing it.

I love this car.

Thanks for the compliments boardboy.

After staring at the car in the drive all afternoon and the Mrs. (A BMW freak who knows her stuff) also pointing out that she thought the rear wheels would need to come out a bit, I guess I will go with the 10 mm Spacers as you guys recommended.
I am sure it will look quite a bit better when the rear wheel/tire will sit flush with the fender.

Thanks again for all your guys' input.

I had the windows tinted this weekend, 15 in the rear, 35 in the front.

That's about it, no other plans other than installing the 10 mm spacer on the rear in order to move the wheel closer to the fender as you had suggested.

Attached pic after I picked her up from the tint job.

Thanks GUYS, appreciate the feedback.

As you can see in the pic, I also de-badged the E320 on the trunk.
