2003 Mercedes Benz E500
Exclamation w211 exhaust!

Hey guys i have a 2003 E500 and i haven't done anything exhaust wise and i want to make it loud and have that deep rattle to it. these are my options i was thinking of getting:

1. x-pipe + straight pipe (muffler delete)
2. x-pipe + c63 mufflers (any amg muffler that fits)
3. resonator delete + straight pipe

if you guy got better options let me know please!!

C63 mufflers and an x-pipe should be your first option. Your second option should be CLS55 mufflers and an x-pipe. Good luck trying to get your hands on some C63 mufflers.

LemonSqueezy was nice enough to let me hear his exhaust (C63 + x-pipe), and I would not call it loud by any stretch. I was a little surprised at how understated it was. Almost un-noticibe when driving gently, especially inside the car. A nice little gurgle with small throttle blips. Then very much that quintessential AMG sound when you get on the gas, but definitely not 'hide your kids' loud. No car alarms being set off.

I'm leaning towards a Brabaus exhaust, because it seems to produce a deeper, more resonant note, from what I can gather from youtube.

Before making my final decision, I hope to be able to hear a muffler delete/j-pipe for comparison.

Not sure if you have already done an exhaust on your car, but if you'd still like to hear the muffler delete + j-pipe, here you go!

Thanks. I listened to AMGAffalterbachs delete in person. Sounds great, but too aggressive for me. I ended up with the Brabus, and an pretty happy. Definitely the deep tone I was hoping for, but the drone at 1800-2,000RPM is a bit annoying.

Perhaps doing the j-pipe can solve your problem! Any sound clips for the new exhaust?

Yes, I actually spoke with someone at an exhaust shop about possible mods, and the j-pipe was a possibility. Good news is the shop was familiar with the concept and had done them. I will post clips (as they all say)

Definitely give it a shot, I have zero drone between 1,800 and 2,000rpm. Worth a shot! 29inch J-pipes (length will affect the rpm range at which the drone is canceled).

Where did you get yours done? Proline, the shop in SF that installed my exhaust have never heard of a j-pipe. Exhaust Works in Belmont is the shop I was planning to take it to about the drone. It seems like they really know their stuff.

I had my exhaust done by Eric Jacobsen at 50-50 Muffler in San Carlos. He did a really beautiful job and has done j-pipes before on a variety of cars. Excellent customer service, as well. I would highly recommend you take your car to him. Tell him I sent you; I'm sure he'll remember my car.
