Strange smoking issue
My car CDI W211, E220 with OM646 Diesel engine is giving out a lot of smoke since last 6 months. Worried, i cleaned the AGR and changed the MAF sensor. However, the issue still persists. The smoke is thick black, as if the car is running rich. Also, the fuel efficiency seems to drop a bit (not sure though)
The smoking issue seems to increase with outside temperature. Also, there are times when the car is not smoking too much and then there are days when it leaves a thick trail behind.
What are the possible remedies or things i need to look at to solve this issue?

Out Of Control!!
Like I suggested in your post in the diesel forum---you may not have the diagnostic tools to find the fault.
However the first step is to get a quick test and the second step is to do a "leak oil" test---the kit cost's about 200 bucks!!
