Maintenance at 138,000?
Hey Guys, so I'm new to the Mercedes world (but I'm very familiar with bmw's), I recently purchased a 04 E55 with 138,000 on it.
I don't have much back ground on it, but the car is pretty solid! No check engine lights or airmatic problems (works great!) Just the usual needed items pads, wear sensors, brake light sensor, S/C bearing, ball joints/arms/bushings..etc. Besides that the car runs strong!
Now, me and my family will be traveling to NC from PA, around a 800 mile round trip. I wanted to get some advise from the pros on some items that should be replaced as preventative maintenance (do not want to be stranded on our way there or back lol) -
I have a list of things that I have in mind - please let know what you guys think - not sure if i'm being too cautious or not
Belt System -
Supercharger and Accessory Belts -
Supercharger and Accessory Idler Pulley's - (going with eurocharge)
Supercharger and Accessory Belt Tensioners -
Eurocharged Crank Upgrade - maybe later lol
Cooling System -
Radiator - really not sure if this is over the top?
Radiator Fan - ??
Coolant Hoses - ??
Water Pump -
I/C pump -
Fuel System -
Fuel Pumps - ??
Sensors -
Crank Position Sensor -
Voltage Regulator - yes/no? - not sure if its something that will me stranded
Of course I have spark plug and transmission change on my list to get done in the next few days.
Please add if I'm missing something

I would look at the SBC, transmission, and did you flush the fluids after your purchase? If you didn't have a PPI done, you may want to have the codes reviewed by a MB dealer or Indie to make sure you don't have a gremlin hiding.

Wheel bearings and engine mounts. Not sure how the AMG engine mounts are, but the standard engine mounts are notorious for tearing easily. Wheel bearings are easy to check. Car seems super loud at highway speeds?

Definitely agree with the other guys about front wheel bearings and engine mounts, I've had to replace both sets. The rearend and rear bearings seem fine in mine, no bad noises, and I've never replaced the fluid. I've also never replaced the trans fluid, so that's on my list.
Shocks will also fail eventually, mine had never been changed, and replacing the shocks made a HUGE difference in the ride quality.
I've also replaced a lower ball joint, the accelerator pedal (TPS sensor is in the pedal), and now working to clean/fix/replace the EGR valve. Can't clear that P0400 EGR code with additives, so I'm taking it off to clean it over the weekend.
Overall, it's been a very solid car at 170k miles.

just buy a new one. takes 30 minutes to change and then you'll never have to worry about it again.
