Like the title states---in summer, if you are having hot air blowing from the rear AC unit---make sure that both the rear drivers and passenger side Hot|Cold air switch is in the correct position for summer(cold) and winter(hot).

There are a couple of bone heads on kiddy benz think they have problems with a SAM unit---more misinformation---if you want cold make sure the cold is selected--if hot make sure the hot is selected!!

On my '04 the problem was caused by a faulty diverter valve in the cowl area.

Could you please elaborate how to make sure? It would be helpful for us, if you can explain it by posting some pictures that shows both the incorrect and correct position. Thank you.

Barry: Can you tell us more about the "diverter valve in the cowl area"? The a/c in my wife's E350 occasionally goes stupid ... blows hot air out the rear vents and seems to close the vents or gates inside the dashboard so that no air comes out. If I turn off the a/c for 5 minutes or so, then turn it back on, things seem to return to normal operation; but, within maybe an hour or so ... here we go again. Is the diverter valve something that can be replaced? Do you have any more info about your experience with the diverter valve? Fixed? How?

Thanks, Mate.

He's referring to changeover valve discussed here https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...rol-valve.html
