Battery Drain On W211 E500 Possibly Solved? Experts?
Ok, I have a battery drain and I think that I figured it out but am not sure?
My battery managed to drain itself overnight. I pulled all of the fuses and it seems that the radio or amp is the culprit. I used my multimeter and there is a difference of about .50mV when the fuse is put in or taken out. When I put the fuse in I can hear a slight pop in the speakers (like the amp is turning on) but am not sure if all of this is normal or not? The radio is not on and the key is not in the ignition. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Do you have COMAND? It's common culprit that it won't go sleep and drains battery, use search for solution (I cannot recall since I have normal audio system)...

Sometime last year I had a new battery installed by MB ($335, yeah crazy) and it turned out to be faulty; they replaced it with another brand new one and it has been fine since. Like you I initially suspected my audio system however using clamp type ammeter I was able to conclude the ambient battery drain was negligible to drain a new battery in a day or two while car was sitting in the garage. The second new battery has been working like a champ.
