Check oil?

Hi guys new to the forum since I just got ahold of a 2007 e63

Anyways i get a " check oil at next refueling " message up in the center but i check the oil levels and they're good. It shows this message once a day or once every two days.

Is this a warning or just automated , anyone have any clues

Thanks!

There is an oil level sensor and it may be giving you a false message. Mine has done that. The connections to the sensor may be dirty, or the sensor may need replacing. I had the dealer do it-connections cleaned, no more message. I don't know if that is a DIY or not.

Oops. Okay. That makes it easy.

I have found the sensor to be rather precise. My 2007 E350 with 150K miles is now beginning to need some added between service intervals. When my warning comes up, I generally add about 1/2 quart (Mobil 1 European Car Formula) and that takes care of it. This particular car has been great on oil consumption, considering the mileage I have put on it.
