No gear display,no mode switch and manual mode for 04' E500 4Matic

Currently I drove this E500 for almost one month but there is no gear display around the odometer when the engine is started. Also, there is no response when I switch C/S mode or go into manual mode.I brought the car to a Mercedes-Benz dealership. They did not check out anything and charged me nothing. They told me that they were seeking technical support from MB USA but they did not respond after two weeks. The dear said that it should not be a matter of hardware but software.
However, the transmission works fine.I come here and want to know anybody here met the similar problem. If so, how did you solve it?
Thanks

Contact MB to confirm they opened a PTSS (technical assistance) case and if so, check status - http://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/

Is the issue been all the time you owned the car, or did it appear recently?

There is currently one case going on in diagnostic oriented forum, where memeber accidently coded his IC wrong, after gear display disappeared. There IS a option in DAS developer which should affect that, but that case it have had no avail.... I'll keep you updated if solution is found there.

Thanks.I have not logged into the forum for so long and just read your message.I got feedback from Mercedes-Benz.They also get one case in California and they think it results from either instrument cluster or mode selection module.
This is always occurring on my car.

05 mercedes e320 cdi
My 06 e320cdi. It stopped working a coupe of days ago. No gear selector or c/s on the dash beside the mileage.

And yes, I have 415000k and this sucker runs like a champ

415k?I would definitely buy a diesel W211 if MB provided 4matic then.
For my car, I have those two dashed lines in kmh but without them in mph. Also, have you felt any difference without gear display?I think I am locked in automobile and cannot log into manual mode.

That would indicate that some module configuration is missing/wrong now. Factory settings restore or intial startup of IC by SCN coding could help (See other thread running in forum...)
