live wire under hood
So battery is dead.. metal key doesn't work but my hood is open where can I connect charger under hood to apply enough power to open trunk with remote key

On most vehicles I've seen when the battery is not under the hood, there's 2 terminals to charge or jump start the car, however, I don't see this in any Benz /:
You can open the trunk with the mechanical key.
There's a trunk lid lock located next to the license plate lights.

Then I saw that your metal key doesn't work. I would recommend getting some juice to the auxiliary battery JUST to open the trunk, not to start the car as MB states to only use the battery in the trunk for this purpose.. There's people that go under the passengers floor to connect a positive terminal I think. As this post #16 states.

On my 2004 model I do have jumping post on passenger side inner fender.
It is inside small black box marked "+" while strut mount next to it has extended bolt making negative post.

can't connect it to the alternator cause you will fry something. Can't connect it to the ignition cause the system won't see the key inserted and won't let the car start imo.
What's up with the metal key? Have heard people doing it wrong.
Manual states to insert the metal key in the trunk, turn the key to the left, and pull on the trunk lid handle.
Most cars don't require to pull on the handle, maybe there's the mess up.

Alternator's main cable is directly connected to battery, but access is not going to be easy.
Still even sedans don't have the prong my wagon does, the main cable is going via engine bay and the only issue is finding convenient spot to tap to it.

Pipe some juice thru cigarette lighter, hopefully you switched the fuse to the next slot to allow a live socket in park, if not, can you turn the key in the ignition?, if not, switch the fuse 53/54, then pipe some juice thru cigarette lighter
