2007 Front differential plug

2007 Front differential plug
Car is an 07 E550 4Matic.
How is everyone getting the fill/drain (only) plug out on the front differential?
I've got a professional mechanic on it at this point and he can get an 8mm hex on there but not seated in there well enough to unscrew it without stripping. He's tried tapping it in, using other bits/extensions but there just isn't much room to work. At this point my front dif isn't getting new oil unless I want to pay him considerably more time to take subframe down.
I don't see too many other people having this issue unfortunately.. Any ideas?
