Front Brake Parts
Disc/rotor part number for "sport" package is different than for base model. I don't have any special badging or indication of a sport package, but seem to recall that dealer said car had it when I bought. Am told that chassis number would give me the answer, but cannot currently raise hood to get it due to stuck latch. Will part of the VIN give me the answer or is the chassis number shown elsewhere? Any other way to determine?
Thanks,
Bruce

Dear Bruce by god-----you have a registration yes or no---if you do post you VIN
PS: If you don't have a registration and you are trying to brake into a car via the hood---you must live in a bad hood!!

Thanks for advice. I'm going to pull and measure before buying anything and will probably take the old parts to the counter to compare. Was hoping to save a few ordering online, but cross-reference on part numbers is inconsistent across sites. My front rotors are 295mm in diameter, which at least confirms which ones those are. Would like to go to lower dusting pads, even if I stick with the OEM rotors.

Hello can someone help me decode what this car is and the part numbers I would need to replace rotors/pads/sensors?
WDBUF56X29B386518
It has the AMG Sport Package but that is confusing as well.
Thanks!

You should have 1 front/right and 1 rear/right sensor - 2115401717 for both.

Not sure what you’re asking for, attached MB data card, brake part lists/diagrams, vehicle requires front left & right wear sensors + rear right.
OEM part #s can also be used to cross reference for aftermarket:
Front
- pads 0044209020
- discs 2114210912
- wear sensors left 2115400717, right 2115401717
Rear
- pads 0074201020
- discs 2114230912 (ventilated)
- wear sensor 2115401717

That's exactly what I'm looking for - all the brake(s) info! Ordered the wrong pads for the front - couldn't figure out which rotor was correct for the front etc. This is really great! Thanks @konigstiger

In case it helps the one parts site I've found that really spells this out is Pelicanparts.com. They also have the largest selection of pads and rotors that I've found. Just ordered from them yesterday myself.

Before you order pads for your lovely Mercedes-Benz, make forum search for Akebono

It doesn't matter that much. Just get some nice Zimmerman rotors and Textar pads that are correct per your VIN# and call it good. I wouldn't use the Japanese Akebono stuff on my ride, those ceramic pads are prone to cracking and generally pretty cheaply made from what I have heard. My 2 Cents..

Not sure where you heard or read that info on Akebono but their pads are awesome. I run them on all of our vehicles (which range from Japanese, American, and British) including the e350 with e55 caliper retrofit. They hardly dust at all, very quiet, and stop the car in a very predicable way. Akebono is actually made in the USA and are many car manufactures OEM pads from the factory, btw.

Yeah, I have them on my 2008. Went from having to hand clean the dust off each rim after a car wash to not even bothering, they don't really dust up. Wish I had done it a while ago, but the pads were new when I got the car. Others have claimed that the braking was worse, but they felt better than whatever was on there before.

I've been using Akebonos for almost 10 years and they seem to be lifetime pads for me.
Measure them after making 80,000 miles and the wear was in 25% range, so with my driving I could expect 3-400,000 miles easy.
I don't know how you can measure them to have lower braking power.
"Couple" of times I managed to activate ABS on perfectly clean asphalt with good quality tires.
If I can lift rear wheels off the ground while braking, that is all I need

My brakes were repaired in the spring and didn't have a squeak until last week when it got cold. My dealer told me I had to video record the squeak and then call Mercedes Customer Service and complain to bring it back to the dealer. He said that the squeaking hasn't been widespread this year in the cold weather and only affects a few states. Been leasing Mercedes for 20 years now. This could be my last lease with them.
