2007 e320 Bluetec - new EGR

Hello, I installed the new egr and am still getting code p2355. Does anyone know if I need to reprogram the ecm for the updated egr?
Thank you ... NSP

Check the hoses, there could be a crack or a leak.

I didn't see any, I read something about putting smoke in the pipe. How do you do that?

You must have had to release EGR hoses on two ports on the bottom of the EGR valve prior to removing the EGR ?

Did the EGR valve come off easily or did you have to muscle it off?

I would say it needed some muscle, I had twisted and pried it up.

Intercar Mercedes where I bought the EGR emailed me that I do not need to reprogram the ECM, it is just a plug & play part. I will check the EGR tonight for any leaks in the small hoses. Any other ideas?

With my lndy's help, we removed and cleaned the EGR, it was not really dirty or clogged up, neverthless it was cleaned and reinstalled; CEL came back on after a ten mile local drive. Now I could go ahead and replace the EGR valve but it's still taking a chance. I wonder if the DAS system (at an MB service facility) would provide more fault information than a good code reader.

Ordered a new EGR Valve.

I brought the car to the dealer to diagnose the p2355, and they just called and said they "think" it may be excessive build up of carbon in the intake and want to start taking the pieces apart to assess the carbon. I hope they are correct and this isn't a fishing expedition!!

I replaced the EGR Valve myself; the new valve was a newer part #, perhaps Mercedes changed something. After installing the CEL would come on for the first few days then went off; perhaps it took a few days to settle down. No issues since.
