05 E 500 Valve Body Replacement

I'm new to the forum, it rocks..

I just purchased E 500 with 72k, and put 1,400 miles on it, during the first month. During that time, the trans has gone into the limp mode 3 times. Turn car off and on, and it's "good".

Dealer states "no signal from speed sensor" "code 2200" and they want to replace valve body at a cost of $2500.00

What's the going rate from local indy's in So Cal?

Do I replace it right away? it doesn't occur during my normal commute, just during long weekend drives.

Is it something that gets progressively worst? It's a nice car, I want to keep it running right. Obviosly, if I could postpone the expense that would be great.

On the other hand if I have to bite the bullet, I'd just assume to do it now...Thanks

The speed sensor is on the conductor plate and it will eventually go bad and instead of limp mode you will need viagra plus a very good AAA or equal account.

There are loads of good indy shops that will do the job at a better price---we have an ole spammer who will no doubt chime in tell us how he did the job on his front lawn in twenty minutes---wait--you will love his HS!!
