E320 horn replacement - Genuine or OEM?
2005 E320 CDI
I need to replace both of my horns. Based on my research, it looks like the part numbers are:
006-542-01-20 420hz (low tone) ~$115 for Genuine MB
006-542-78-20 - 510hz (high tone) ~$90 for Genuine MB
I looked for the Genuine part manufacturers and I couldn't tell if Fiamm, Clarton, or Bosch manufactured it.
Either way, there are OEM replacements for $25, but I'm concerned that these horns might not be powerful enough or sound right.
Does anybody have experience replacing their horns and can recommend a non-Genuine part that sounds the same or better than the Genuine options?

Funny in almost 2 decades of buying MB for whole family I never replaced horn till I bought W211 with bad high tone horn.
My solution was pulling horn from W124 on junk yard.
My prediction is that W211 in few more years will fall apart, but will have good horn

I found a pair on eBay from a recycler for a few dollars less than the dealer. They sound sweet. Nice and loud with great harmonic tones. My cars prior owner decided to upgrade the horns at some point replacing them with a pair of red air horns. By the time I purchased they barely squeaked. And you could see the red horns, like the kind you'd see carried by clowns in a parade, through the front grille. That replacement was near the top of my to do list. Clown horns...what an upgrade. The low tone was still mounted and just needed to be wired. I might be willing to part with the spare low tone I now have. Seems odd, how could both of your horns need replacing?

Only the low tone is busted, but horns have a service life. I think they are generally rated for 100,000 honks. At Genuine prices, I would probably only replace the low tone, but since OEM options are $30-$50 for the pair, I was thinking it would be prudent to go ahead replace both of them.
