Brake light intermittent
Anyone have problems with an intermittent brake light? The driver brake light works most of the time but about once a week someone tells me my brake light is out on the driver's side. I know it's a $200 assembly and not just a bulb.

Well, I'm not exactly excited to fork over $200 for what may be an easy fix. I suspect the assembly but may be an easy fix that some members may have already found out. That's the whole reason for these forums (to share information), isn't it?

I guess that if it lights up, then it's not the bulbs itself, maybe the module?
btw, both of mine are blown, so I searched on eBay and it's 50 usd for a side..

Update:
Found a replacement assembly on Amazon for $72 shipped free. Good unit and fit exactly but you have to remove your existing bulb assembly (3 screws) and switch it to the new one.. Looked at the old unit and verified it was bad (only the LED brake portion). Found the culprit was a 25 cent diode that was bad on the small circuit board that is on top of the LED brake section. Replacing the diode fixed the problem so now I have an extra light assembly.
This is why I love the forums! If anyone has the same issue it can possibly fixed for under a buck and a little work.
