GLOVE BOX LIGHT

How do you make the glovebox light illuminate? I just discovered mine doesn't illuminate when I open the glovebox door. I replaced the bulb ... no joy. Should I suspect a fuse problem? Or does MB require special tricks to operate the glovebox light?

Shazam! The glovebox knows when it's night and day ... it only illuminates at night. MB engineers must have some hellacious committee meetings. Thanks for your replies.

Don't these MB engineers have anything better to do? I mean, really, what's the harm in having the glove box light come on when it's bright daylight out? I can see designing it so it goes off after half an hour so it doesn't kill your battery, but so what if it comes on when don't really need it.

I was scouring the web and forum sites for info on how to make the glove box come on. Replaced the bulb. Confirmed that power is applied to the socket. Still no joy.
Then I came across a thread on the W203 forum with the tip that the light comes on only when the ignition switch is on.
Tried it out and what do you know .... the light comes on!
So, the whole time I was trying to figure out what the problem was .. there was not a problem to fix. LOL.

My glovebox light doesn’t come on at all even during night time. Is there a switch on it that gets damaged or something? Id like to order a replacement. And yes I did replace the bulb.
