Oil change?

My E550 4matic passed over 1,000 mile and break-in period is over. Should I change engine oil? I asked my sale person about oil change and he anwered I don't need to change oil until coming 10k service.
My SLK55 got oil change around 1,500 miles as dealer asked before.....
Non AMG engine doesn't need to change oil just after break-in period?

Im at the same point and was thinking about this too. I was told exact same thing you were.....but dealer also told me "no break in period - engines are already broken in" which contradicts the owners manual. HAve contemplated calling the service shop to see if they say anything different, or calling the advisor you can supposedly get by pressing the overhead console button with the wrench on it.

Unless I hear otherwise I'll probably wait.

Oil change

Yes the engines are already bench run, however an oil change as I tell my customers is the cheapest form of maintenance, so what's 9 quarts of 0w40 and a MB filter going to cost you?? a lot less than an engine, If you've seen as many sludged up engines as I have you'll do it every 7500 miles, And please stay away from those awful jiffy-lube type places everyone.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Properly done

fleece filter mobil 1 0w40 wt syn you wait till the service interval. You won't have sludge. You won't be changing your synthetic oil before it is due.
AND YOU ARE NOT RUNNING A ONE ENGINE ONE BUILDER AMG HAND BUILT ENGINE .YOUR ENGINE IS ALREADY BROKEN IN.iT DOES NOT HAVE BREAK IN OIL INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY.

fwiw, I changed my oil at 1500 miles. Primarily because the car had a build date of almost a year ago (a left over new 2009 E63 AMG.)

The used oil sparkled like glitter. It made me feel good to change it after the break-in period.

Since that first oil change the oil has stayed clean. It's all nice and seated.

I'll be doing it every 7.5k. A high compression motor (11.3:1) that is driven hard.

Wouldn't all that "glitter" signify that the oil filter wasn't doing its work?

high compression has nothing to do with oil contamination? Diesels have even high compression and run very dirty, if anything its more strain on the starter, but im sure MB has put in a beefy starter to handle that....
