On-the-road to "Power Folding Mirror" Nirvana

Not sure what you are asking. I can't power-fold my mirrors at all. I said I'd love to have that ability. Never had them, but I assume one might be able to power-fold perhaps while stationary before entering the garage. I've tapped my passenger-side mirror a couple of times on the garage door frame. Like I said, I have about two inches of play total, so I've gotta be careful.
Maybe I am wrong and they are only folded while completely stationary. That wouldn't help me a bit.

I've been told that the mirrors will be able to be folded where- or when-ever I wanted to. I NEVER thought about folding them while in-flight. But I do see your point ... I will be moving up the driveway approaching the garage when I fold them and I will be unfolding them as I cruise out ...

FINALLY.
Today my favorite MB tech installed a manual switch that folds the mirrors in or out. Total additional clearance added for me is about 4-5 inches, which should save me big bucks if I were to knock my mirror.
Pictures attached are:
Out - Normal Position
In - New Folded Position
Out - Ruler showing ~10" extension
In - Ruler showing ~8" extension
Future coding by the computer is a REMOTE possibility as MB needs recertification, highly unlikely for an older 2010 model, maybe just for a future model.
I'm happy now as I have more room in my garage.

What do you mean by a "manual switch"? I hope you just had the window switch cluster replaced with the one that adds the power fold button...?
I retrofitted PFM into my former 2010 E-Coupe. With the password from Germany they were able to activate it as it should work (ie: part of the cluster so that you can auto-fold when vehicle is locked, etc). It was very difficult to obtain permission from Germany, however, as no North American-spec E-Coupes were ever offered with PFM.
2012 E-Coupe/Cabrio will get PFM standard for Canada (and I believe USA too) - USA may have made this change to the sedan as well.

Ctrl+alt+elite ... The current switch is a temporary toggle hidden up under the dash. I've ordered a nice rocker switch that I intend to install in the lower driver's door panel, just above the trunk release switch in my P2-equipped sedan. Pictures will follow once that is complete.
YYz-e55 ... I did have the EU door switch installed, but the US Comand wouldn't recognize it. Can you pm me some more specifics? My MB tech (at a dealership) was unable to get that password, he was told of it, but just couldn't get it thru his official channels.

The dealership won't likely get you a password. I got it through connections in the technical department at MB Canada head office.

It is early though. Errors and omissions do occur with newly posted MB vehicle specs.
I hope you are correct!

You can ask if it has code 500, which was the code used on the Canadian W212. If it does, you've definitely got PFMs. I believe for the 207s it was actually integrated into the country code (460 for Canada, 494 I think is US?).

There is an item Code 494 Supplemental Parts NAFTA on the list.
That it? Or does that merely mean the car is to be configured for the U.S.? No Code 500 on the list.

Code 494 is a control code for US vehicles - there may be other codes within that code (sales guy would have no clue). For example, for Canada the block heater is included within 494 for most vehicles.

So on the computer the salesman could perhaps click on Code 494 and find other Codes listed there? Or something like that? I'm even more clueless than the salesman may be about these things.
Thanks for your patience.

Dealer will have no access to the codes/details within 494. Only MBUSA Product Planners will have this info.

Another crazy item MB left off the "most technologically advanced" vehicle they build. Doesn't make any sense. The C has it and not the E. Wow..what a mistake. I really don't think their marketing folks are all that together. (similar to their failure on the backup camera lines).

Every country's marketing dept. decides how their base model will be equipped and what will be offered in the premium package. Canadian cars do not have the luxury model only the sport with 4Matic standard. Also the car comes much better equipped than the US model and a much hihger base price.
I would imagine they do studies to determine what cars to offer at what price in each market. I would give up the folding mirrors for the US price point.

I regret to report the Power Folding Mirrors option is not being included on the U.S. version 2012 E350 Coupes. Not yet, at least. It is being supplied on the Canadian version.
My salesman says he would not be surprised to see it on the U.S. models in the "not-too-distant future," but he wouldn't commit as to whether the 2012's would be modified in production.
Well, you Canadian buyers are certainly entitled get something more for all that extra cost! Nevertheless, MB should have put the feature on the U.S. cars, too. It's the third model year and about time.

Not without STAR programming and significant HW. While MB returned them in the 2015 MY, I've never found an instance of them being retrofitted into a 2014.

I wonder if it's anything like the face-lifted w211. Our 09' didn't come or have the power folding mirror option. What I needed was the following:
Left/right mirror motors. I then had to take the side mirrors off the car and transfer the shells to the new motors. (glass as well) Everything just clips together.
The plugged right into the door side modules. I then needed a new power mirror control switch. Again plug and play and zero issues. Then I just needed to code the car with STAR and I had working power folding mirrors on the face lifted w211. I would assume that for 2014, you could purchase the 2015 mirror bases and new switch panel for inside the driver side door. Code the car and you should have them.
After looking at how little the 2015 mirrors fold in it actually seems sort of weird that they don't fold in more than other models of MB's.

that is what I’m thinking too. Just buy new or used 2015 mirrors with motors and switch out the master switch block. The mirrors should fold when pressing the center button. I was hoping the STAR programming would only be necessary if I wanted the mirrors to fold when I used the key fob.
I would just buy the mirror frames and use existing covers and mirrors. Simkimg says that they won’t work at all because Germany has blocked the coding or their is a password that is unavailable.
I really want to give this a try..
Thanks again for replying
