Driver side door lock not working electronically [2011 E550 Sedan W212]
[2011 E550 Sedan W212] Couple of days ago, the driver side door lock stopped working (stays open).
What works:
- FOB opens and closes rest of the 3 door locks
- inside buttons open and close rest of the 3 door locks
- Using manual key in the lock of the external door handle works to open and close the driver side lock.
What doesn't work:
- Any electronic ways to open/close the driver side door lock
- Manually pulling or pushing the driver side door lock
Searching for the issue I found a lot of complaints for door lock bouncing in W211 or older models, a few talk about removing door panels and replacing the door lock actuator, some talk about replacing the IR sensor.
Any ideas, experts?

Had a similar issue on a honda... where it would close but then unlock 1 or both rear doors after certain time.
replaced the actuator and it was fixed.
good thing it wasnt expensive for a honda.. i bet benz be more and more labor

Don't know for sure for your E550, but on my C55 AMG replacement of the door lock actuator needed to be done by the dealer or a good mechanic. The reason being, that actuator cannot be accessed until the side door air bag is removed and for reasons that wouldn't change between models, that air bag is riveted to the inside of the door. If you are very handy and had the right tools, sure you could remove and re-install the air bag. But my guess is, this is one of those things that's worth paying a pro to do.
