PCMCIA slot in dash
This feature is so nice. No need for mp3 devices anymore! I bought a sandisk pcmcia adapter and a 16gb sd card and put 12gb of music on it at once. It displays track info on the display and everything. You can even fast forward.

Yup,very good feature. However,if you plan to use a large capacity SD you can't go with the MB branded adapter. It won't work. However,I wish the Comand system's hard drive could be loaded with MP3's with the same ease as my BMW's hard drive could be loaded.

What's the limit on the MB adaptor? I'm using an 8gb card now.

Good info.
One more device needed would be a USB SD/SDHC reader (for the computer end) to complete the whole package. I do not have any of these, but it makes a lot of sense.
Currently have 120G iPod, always connected. Not bothering anyone right now.
HDD is not that user friendly.

Where's the best place to download music on the flash. My iPod is running out of space.

You are joking, but that is so true. Just like MB - Pricy, lacking a lot of freebies, everything part has a premium - yet worth every penny.
Having said that, I did not know they even made laptops with PCMCIA slots anymore. I have an old Dell from the days when WiFi was not integrated and it had 2 slots one of which I used for a WiFi card. What would be the purpose of such slots on laptops these days when a lot of functionality is built in? Just curious.

I believe, USB is extra ka-ching, and not part of P2 package. As of this writing, I have not gone in the car and double checked but I believe thats how it is.
If there is a way around it, I would love to hear about it because USB Flash drives are so convenient. Lexus RX has USB slots hardwired. And like you suggested, drag songs to Flash drive, plug it in, and your playlist shows up on the screen. No iPod necessary.

MB comes with a USB adapter? Mine has two lines: One for iPod and other for AUX out cable. No USB.

My Australian Spec E500 with standard Comand and Harmon Kardon Sound came as standard with a plastic bag with three separate cables.
I have plugged an old ipod classic into it from day one with the ipod cable and have never removed the other two from the packet.
One cable has a USB port on it and the other cable has a female socket for a four pin 3.5mm jack.
The packet is labelled with the same part number as given before - A 001 827 70 04.

Will this work on a 07 s550? Just checking to see if year make and model of your vechicle would matter. I brought a mercedes pcmcia card on ebay and it only works up to 2 gigs. I want to be sure that it's not the stereo system in my car that is limiting the capacity.
Thanks much.
