DIY Oil Change E350 2009

Hey Everyone,

Just joined and it's awesome to see a community like this.

I purchased my 2009 E350 about a year ago and I'm trying to do the oil change. But this is my first german car and it's a little harder than I thought.

Several questions:

1. Where should I place the jack stands because I can't find the chassis…all plastics under there.

2. Where is the oil drain plug located? I unscrewed the plastic plate between the engine and the radiator but can find the drain plug…

Thanks!

So I decided to go ahead and do the change and found that you have to remove the 2 panels directly underneath the engine to get to the drain plug.

And as for the jackstands…the whole damn underside is either plastic or piping, both of which can't support the weight, so I decided to bring out the books…

I'm pretty sure most of you guys know this already, but word to the wise, be careful on the last few twists when unscrewing the drain plug…spent an hour cleaning up afterwards...

I don't know the 2009 engine but my 2011 engine has oil filter at the top of the engine. This means I don't need to go under the car because I pump out the oil thru the dip stick tube.

I have regular 10 000 miles services done by MB but I like to change oil between those, i.e. my car sees new oil every 5000 miles.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
W211 E350 and W212 E350 (2010 and 2011 only) engines are identical. OP just did not use the topside method for whatever reason, even though that's how MB service guys remove oil - from the top through the tube and not through drain plug at the bottom.
