Getting conflicting info...4300K or 5000K

Which is stock? Some are telling me 4300K, others say 5000K. I don't want an aftermarket blue look, just OEM.

I know...should have just ordered a P2 car LOL

5K gives you close to stock look but to get the best light output 4300K is the way to go.

Does anybody have pictures of the stock HID's vs. an aftermarket 4300 or 5000K?

Also, does it matter how many watts I do?

And I've seen some threads about error codes. Is there anything else I need to worry about?

Depends what year MB you're comparing to. They switched several models in mid-2011 from 4300 to 5000k.

post 12/2010 builds come with 5K and improved projectors. Absolutely crisp and PERFECT hue, with a quality shine. Pure white but with a blue tinge.... Not overboard with the blue-purple like some 6K's I see.

Firstly, the Xenon's on my 2011 are a LOT crisper and white/bluer (but OEM-looking, tasteful blue-tinge, not the aftermarket "too much blue" cheese look that some cheap setups look like).

Here's an official photo comparison of the new 5K VS old 4300K Xenon's:

Mercedes-Benz Makes Xenon Lights in E-Class and S-Class Even Brighter
STARTING DECEMBER, PRODUCTION OF THE E-CLASS AND S-CLASS WILL MAKE USE OF NEW XENON BURNERS FROM THE COMPANY OSRAM

Achieving light color which is as close as possible to daylight is one of the biggest safety benefits in the field of headlamp technology. Mercedes-Benz is now one of the first automotive manufacturers to offer xenon headlamps boasting a significantly brighter light output.

From December, production of the E-Class and S-Class will make use of new xenon burners from the company Osram, featuring a color temperature which has been increased by some 20 percent. Achieving a figure of 5000 Kelvin, the new xenon light is even closer to daylight and is therefore even brighter – a clear innovation, in the true sense of the phrase.

This light color is in keeping with normal human perception patterns, and as such conveys an impression of greater brightness to the eyes, thus reducing the strain on the driver. Studies have shown that the closer the color of artificial light comes to daylight, the less the strain on the eyes. This is a crucial safety benefit, especially if we take into account that only 20 percent of journeys take place at night – yet it is when 40 percent of fatal accidents occur.

After the E-Class and the S-Class, further Mercedes-Benz model series will be gradually fitted with the new xenon burners in 2011. All previous Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with xenon headlamps can also be fitted with this additional safety feature, as the new xenon burners will be available from branches and dealers as Mercedes-Benz original parts.

I've been through all kinds of Xenon/HID kits , bulbs, ballast over last 10 years . purchased from china /usa , forums sponsors and just about every place you can think of .. I run 55 watts on my w210AMG foglights and have yet to have a burn out since last year and one thing I will tell you now is with 35watt kits , buy an extra bulb and ballast no matter who you buy from because chances are either bulb or ballast are going to go sooner or later .. and you dont want to be stuck for couple days to a week without a replacement while your waitin for whomever you bought it for to replace either ballast or bulb .just a heads up

Yup. On my 2010 with HID's, I thought they were all perfectly aligned in color/hue. With my 2011, it seems as though my parking light LED's and LED DRL's are dimmer than my 2010's.... of course this isn't really the case, it's just that my headlights with the new projectors and 5K temps are that much brighter than the LED lights.
