No permanent high beam

Did a drive late night on one lane serpentine road, and discovered that it is real problem that high beam works only in auto mode. I can accept that it doesn't switch in high beam when you have opposite direction cars going with high beam, but it simply gets switched off just on own reflections in signs and other stuff. Did somebody face a similar problem? So I had to drive holding high beam lever to do not fall from a road.

I am not going out to the car to get my manual, but I believe the high beams (I am sure you have a P2 with Xenons) are automatic only when you have the car's light indicator on AUTO. When you have it on ON, the high beams go on and off like any other car's would.

Also, I know you can disable the Adaptive High Beams feature in the Settings menu on your steering wheel.

EDITED: I tried this while driving my daughter to school just now, I was correct. (Was there any doubt?

If you had put the headlight switch to ON (the little light icon) then the Adaptive High Beams work manually: Push = high beams, Pull = low beams. It is only in the A setting with Push that the beams become auto on or off.

Good info. Didn't know this. Takes care of that issue.

And as it was stated in an earlier post you can disable the adaptive high beam control with the steering weel buttons. This will allow you to leave the light switch on AUTO but the high beams will work from the stalk just like in any car.
