Bt audio streaming and Iphone 6?
Hello all and thanks for the great info on this thread
I'm a happy new owner of a 2010 E63 Amg and cant get bluetooth audio streaming working.
I found the service menu, enabled bluetooth audio streaming and tried to pair my Iphone 6 to the MB Bluetooth (the car). Pairing always ends up in "connection unsuccesful"
For telephone bluetooth pairs and works fine.
Any advice how to proceed?
Head unit firmware update or any other tips?
Many thanks!

My understanding is you can enable bluetooth streaming in a 2010 using the engineering menu, but it's not optimal. The best way to go is to go to a dealer, get the COMAND firmware update and then you have much better bluetooth streaming audio features. You will sync up better, and I believe you even have the ability to control the track selection via the COMAND system rather than messing with the phone.
Just my .02 based on what I've read via searches. Correct me if I'm wrong. I just got a 2010 E550, and I'm heading to the dealer soon to get the update. I'll report back.

Let us know how you get the dealer to do the update. Many have reported that dealers say there is no update. A few have said they got it done but didn't provide enough details to help others tell their dealer what to do. IRRC best advice was to complain that you had BT phone issues and hope the dealer would update software to resolve. If you ask for BT audio, they will likely tell you that doesn't work for your car. Good luck.

The dealer closest to me (MB of Rocklin, CA) knew all about the update when I got on the phone with them. We didn't discuss cost, but I'll be amazed if I get out of there for less than $200.
I'll update everyone as soon as it's done. Still trying to schedule right now, their appointment slots and my schedule aren't meshing. So it may not be done for a couple weeks.

im talking about the AC temp, fan speed settings etc popping up from the bottom of your screen and fading back down after a couple of seconds when you touch any of the AC control buttons.
do you remember how to do it or where to go from the menu? cheers!

Sorry it took me awhile to get back but I don't have that specific piece in my binder. I can only find dyno mode, BT activation, service resets, and TCU reset. I think you may just have to play around in the settings. It's somewhere that after you see it, it'll seem like it was obvious.

Haven't seen a reply so adding my 0.02
So first thanks to all of you posting in the forums about the tips and tricks with BT and the engineering menus. You all deeply influenced my decision to pick up a 2011 E550 with 96k miles on it just a couple weeks ago. It was $10k less than the next closest 2011 (20k less miles) and frankly a beautiful car.
Here's my experience so far with the BT, audio, firmware and dealership:
- Looked at car, couldn't get phone to connect, got on MB forums and resolved
- Couldn't get streaming audio to work, got on MB forums and found engineering menu solution. (You guys rock)
- Bought the car and turned on the BT option. Sort of worked but a little wonky, had some dropping issues, could not control the track through Command, same as listed by others but I could have lived with it
- Went to the local dealership and asked for a full service, transmission, fluids, oil, code check, etc.
- Then asked about a firmware update and was told by the service advisor there wasn't one. Said I had bluetooth connectivity issues (Thanks MBworld) and he said since the car was 2011 and it was 2016, MB didn't guarantee anything over 5 years anyway.
- Pointed out my Nexus 6 is a 2015, 2015 - 2011 = 4 years. Told him while growling slightly that I KNEW there were updates because MBworld forums told me there were and he needed to be more thorough in his approach
- Left the car while he reviewed it, after 2 hours he called back to say that there maybe was an update he'd let me know
- Called back to tell me there was in fact a firmware update and another central computer update that they could install, $175 for the firmware and $95 for the central computer update, I agreed to both and they updated them
- Total of $1200 dropped at dealership for maintenance and they cut me no slack at all, probably because I'm new there
- After the update no clipping or dropping, have track info and control through command for Slacker, Amazon, etc., BT doesn't "pause" and keep playing
So it was a little expensive but for me worth it, don't know about the main computer update, have to research it. (Still wondering if it was a pushy a**hole tax) If you get resistance (as others here have) I would just confidently state you know there is one.
After reviewing the engineer menus and making some style changes for temp, etc I am also going to tackle the rear camera install that I saw as well. I think opening up the engineering menus for the users is a great idea and I can't wait to tinker further, if I find anything really cool I'll report back.

Drinrin, congratulations and welcome!
Just be extra careful with the engineering menu, dont change anything youre not familiar with, it could be trickier than you think.
Apart from the $270 charge for the firmware update? What kind of maintenance did they do to your car? If youre diy savvy, you can save heaps if you do your own maintenace. Its really easy and doesnt take much of your time.
Goodluck and enjoy your new car mate!

Thanks! I am being careful not to get too far off on the menu but I am going to do a little digging and see what's available. Turned on the camera function yesterday and it seems to be working, have a cheap cam I'm going to install and if I really like it may get a CCD.
As for the billing, the firmware update was only $175, still trying to figure out what the other $95 system update was, my cruise control now goes in 5 mph increments although that may have already been a feature and I'm just now noticing it.
Transmission full service, fluid, gasket etc $595, fluid flush and fill (brake, etc) $95, oil change $130, code check was $175. I used to do a lot of the service myself but I just don't have the time anymore. I'm a big DIY guy but with 100k miles I also feel better having the dealership handle it because they will write up literally everything that is or is going to be an issue.
cheers!

Hello guys!
I need your help!
I was able to add Internet Browser to Comand on my 2013 E550. However, I didn't see USA in the list of countries in the Settings where you have to choose a provider.
It seems as it is possible to add a provider manually. But you have to know the provider's Access Point, etc. Does anybody know how to add AT&T to the list of network providers?

If i want to stream audio from my phone i hav to connect "External Device" then it works for me.
The sad part is that you hav to do this everytime the connection is lost.

I also have to externally authorize as well. My connection has been steady and authorization hasn't been an issue if you authorize at the Audio menu FIRST instead of Phone.
It's annoying that it doesn't remember and do it automatically going forward, but I understand that it's old technology. Beggars can't be choosers.
Unless an update, and it's free, resolves this...
