Red face Headrest QUestion

For a 2012 E 350: Does anyone know if the front headrests can be removed. I'd like to install a coat hanger accessory to the back. This particular hanger requires removal of headrest. If it does, how?

Thanks!

(PS: The Headrest is put back after installation.)

OOOOPS! BAD IDEA to remove the headrest! (Or set it too low) Get rear-ended and get your neck broken -- as a cousin of mine did. Instant death!

Or is it just to install the hanger and you replace the headrest and adjustment isn't impacted?

The coat hanger offered by Mercedes just clips on the headrest posts. Really tight, really well done. Well, they used to offer it . . . .

In addition, the Neck-Pro system may not work properly if the coat hanger gets in the way.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The headrest has to be removed just to install the hanger, The headrest is put back after the hanger is installed.

Who the heck would remove headrests permanently?!

I think I will just return that stupid suit jacket hanger to Silver Star Outfitters. It was quite a surprise when I saw on the box; a diagram indicating that installation required removal and reinstallation of the headrest! I wish their web-site had offered that little detail before I ordered it.
Then, when I called them to ask about removal of the head rest , they said "This product is not model specific, so we can't help you". (!!!) And I thought Silver Star Outfitters was an MB accessory specialist. My bad.

I can send instructions to remove head restraint – need to remove back lining and deal with NECK-PRO connector. If it were me, I would get MB hanger part # 0008140132 MSRP $49 (to comparison shop, parts.com $38.40). http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/access...-E/model-E350W

You still need to be careful with the type of hanger you install so that it does not interfere with the safety systems installed in the car. This includes side and side curtain airbags in addition to the neck-pro.

Thanks All. I am sending it back and asking the dealer where I am picking up my new CPO next month if he would order the MB part and give me a good customer discount.
