2014 tail lights retrofit ?
Anyone planning on trying to retrofit the new 2014 tail lights?
They're both the same shape. Looks like its possible with all the right wiring harness.
Would love to do it eventually, wonder what the price of the tails would be

Major failure, Breaks, ABS, SRS lights all came on
Got the complete 2014 set off Ebay and all the warning lights came on. Seems like only the outer lights is plug and play but the inner lights do not come on and the dash warning for Breaks, ABS, SRS lights all came on.

Maybe a simple code/update might work, that's if the dealer does jt

There are some cars that has been retrofitted with these taillights, so it's possible.
But I don't know anything about the process to get them to work properly. I'm guessing wiring and maybe a control-module of some kind (?).
I would definitely be interested if someone finds out what's needed.

I thought I'd read in another members (person that upgraded the entire front of his car) post that the fit was not good.

From what I read, for the rear, you need new SAM units and specific programming. You probably need a VIN from a 2014 to get the SAMs programmed.
The only front retrofit that I have seen that is successful is on the Coupe. Haven't seen anyone do the sedan yet.

Those wheels....
I know the parts work (fit). Do the headlights work? Does distronic work? Fitting the parts is the easy part. The programming is the difficult part.

I have one 2014 e class tail light which has a tiny crack line on the outer cover. I will sell it for $100 shipped in the lower 48

At first I wasn't even sure if the 2014 lights would fit in the 2010-13 cars, but I guess they do.
I'm sure anything could be done with the right STAR tech. For the W204, the alternative to reprogramming the rear SAM was a convertor (probably with a bunch of resistors) that deleted all the error codes and made the lights work perfect. Its probably a matter of time till these convertors come out for the 212 along with a cheap replica of the 2014 lights.

Agreed. I dont see why sam reprogram would be the way to go. technology is the same. leds lighting up. just a matter of the right input tying to the right output. converter would be best IMO. should be simple, could do it myself if someone would get us a pinout etc. not too difficult to get those lights to disappear if you fake the signal its looking for.
question is, anyone got a wiring diagram and pinout for front and rears?
im trying to do front as well but that will be much more complicated with active curve illumination and the change from Xenon to Led main light bulbs.

sorry , there are shape diference on the tailights . They fit perfect with facelift rear bumper , otherwise there will appear a whole gap in the lower side . I remeber germans sells on ebay.de a plastic part to fill that gap ...and that small parts costed just 99 eur ( 135 usd ) only !
