Took a quick test drive in the E250 tonight and seemed plenty powerful enough. The engine does seem louder than the our 2013 GL350. It also seemed like there was some vibration on the steering wheel. Overall, I was still impressed, as it seemed very smooth.
Going back on Saturday and will do a much more extensive test drive.
If leasing the money factor is terrible on the E250 right now. Definitely a car that you need to buy.

Was that a 4matic or RWD model? Just curious if the 4matic has more vibration perhaps?

It was an E250 sport 4matic. Hoping that it was just that car, as it had never been driven before. The vibration was in no way terrible and would not stop me from buying the car. Spoiled by out 2013 GL350. That SUV is the most solid cars we have owned.

Ahhhh OK. Was wondering if the dealers were allowing test drives of E250's yet. I suspect many have the cars but are still keeping them under wraps until the official launch. Still no sign of any announcements on the MBUSA site.
The GLK250 I drove was smooth as silk too. I have read that the engine has balancing shafts in it, so despite being a 4 banger its still pretty smooth.

Yes - it was an E250 driven. Multitasking and typed the wrong name. Sorry. I have corrected it.

OK, we have it straight now, it was an E250. Some vibes don't bother me too much. But then, I refer to my iron block inline 6 in my CDI as the "tractor engine" (I used to drive John Deere's in a job I had in college). An inline 4 is probably going to have some residual vibrations even with balancing shafts, but I think I still prefer this new engine over the V6 in the previous Bluetecs, mainly for its economy. Yea, I too am wondering which dealer has the demos already.

The vibrations in my s350 bluetec are pretty annoying but I have very little tolerance for vibrations. I am talking about vibrations at idle AND while stopped at a light.
Dealership tried 2 software updates but still could not fix it. I noticed after installing a tuner chip, the vibrations become a little bearable but did not go away completely.
Just to give you an idea, while in P or at stop light if you placed you head on the headrest it would feel like you had massaging headrests (like those old school hand massagers barbers would use on your head and shoulders).
So the vibrations in 2012 S were not present in 2012 E350 bluetec!!! go figure...
P.S: no vibrations once the car was moving.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Mine vibrates too , I thought there was something wrong with the ignition system or tire balance . Having read your inputs on the 1500 RPM vibration set my mind at ease . To cure this issue, I sometimes manually take over the control so use pedal shifters

Congrats! Looks great and "classy" Didn't get the lighting package? Those cars and the CLS have always had great turning radius IMO. Enjoy it in great health! 700ish miles on a tank vs my 400ish...so jealous
