2014 E350 Sport Spare Wheel Question

Is this what everyone's trunk/spare wheel looks like in their 2014 E350? My 2013 didn't look like this and had a plastic cover over it with small compartments.

Same for me.

It's where all my reusable shopping bag and slime sealant/airpump kit goes.
Don't try to unpack those tools because they will rattle if you don't reset them properly.

They deleted all the nice styrofoam compartments.

ok, just checking. I miss the styrofoam compartments. They were very handy. Where do you place the whole leather manual binding now?

Download manual PDF in your iPhone.

There is some free space on right side, so I plan to put some cardboard box there for some stuff.

Part # is 21269001419F08 (MSRP about $60). Checked a number of early build e350s both sport & luxury EPC shows vehicle is equipped with this panel. I would suggest speaking with the SM even if part discontinued later, dealer could order a replacement gratis.

No way this was intentionally removed as cost cutting. With the battery exposed to things being put in the trunk it would be a serious safety problem.

I would like to hear a positive experience pushing a dealer to put the discontinued part back. I am a weak negotiator, so my experience will be more likely negative.

Not push, never push and do not open with "discontinued" but rather question the panel not being there with your salesman and sales manager given history with dealership (i.e.: purchase, warranty, maintenance, etc.) well, you may be surprised. Same as most would when requesting a gratis windshield sunshade upon purchase.

Here is a copy of EPC to support your "conversation".

This e-bay listing doesn't mention MY14. So this part simply can't be incompatible or fitting well.

2014 E350 Wagon
Dema, the part is still a valid one for 2014. Should fit in the car, checked with a late 2014 Sedan VIN.

A2126900141 is the part number plus color code.

The small battery you saw in OP's post, is for ECO which is standard on all 2014 Es, but was not available in prior years. The main battery for all W212 years is under the hood (hidden) right in front of the passenger seat.

IMO, the reason there's no "cover" in 2014s and on is due to the ECO battery and the cables to it. I still have my covers from 2010 & 2012 (I traded the cars in without them, do not ask...) will try if it fits (but just by looks of it, one corner, where that small battery is, will not clear it).

Cables appear to be below mounting lip and panel storage indents appear to clear battery, etc. furthermore EPC documents vehicles in question should have this panel.

mikeyle check your PM.

Not practical - based on your location, I'm as far from you as one can be in the States. For me, selling one for lets say $30 and shipping it is not cost effective - it is bulky, so shipping to CA will be at least $20.

They're only around $60 at your local dealer. If you check hard enough, you can easily find them for less on-line.

Update:

You are correct, konigster, I tried fitting the panel and it does fit exactly as you described. I looked at several 2014 E and CLS models (all with that small battery) - none have this panel, which is odd.
