New 2014 GPS Navigation Map for E350
Hi Friends, Does anybody know about the new GPS map 2014 available for North America for E350 Bluetec 2012 model ? If yes where is the best place to buy ?

I agree that in most cases the GPS update from the Mega Bucks dealer is NOT worth the $$$$$. The system is a big mistake from the get go. Consider what Garmin can provide at a dramatically lower price. Why MB went with that system can only be based on profit.

Comparing handheld devices to integrated Nav, I would tend to agree. Would I like to see lifetime map and system updates at a reasonable cost? Sure! However, is MB much different than any other manufacturer in this regard? Having owned several MB and BMW, I suspect it's probably not valid to single them out.

You can find them sometimes after market on eBay for 100 or less.
No way in hell I'm buying that from the dealer for 250. Might be worth 75-100 but still pretty ridiculous when you think about it. What is it, one dvd of data?

I wish they'd integrate the Garmin software into one of these in-dash Navi systems (much like the Becker Map Pilot) rather than trying to develop their own. I just had an Infiniti Q50 over the weekend w/Navi and it wasn't entirely useless but it wasn't a joy to use like my Garmin Nuvi. It was bad enough to keep me from using it unless I was absolutely lost in an area, whereas I normally keep my Nuvi going to keep an eye on traffic and for the extensive POI database.
IIRC, Renault has/had a real, live TomTom mount on the dashboard of some of their cars which just made sense to me. Easily less expensive for Renault and the consumer, and the consumer gets a better quality product. It just seems like this should be a no-brainer to just fully integrate the software or even entire GPS device from a GPS manufacturer.

Noka: In theory, the latest DVD is already loaded into the car's hard-drive navigation system before it's delivered to you. The W212 COMAND systems have internal hard drives which stores the actual map it uses. The DVDs are only for the purpose of updating it.

I have the nav update for 12-14 it has US and Canada. I had the update done at the dealer last month. You can do it yourself but it takes 2+ hours. The package has three DVDs. If your interested let me know. send me a PM.

Been suggesting this for years

Waze App
I use the MB dash GPS 80% of the time but when I'm in rural areas or long road trips I definitely suggest the "Waze" app. It's in the App Store and is hands down the best map app on the planet! Live time Traffic alerts, Cop speed traps, etc...all while streaming the voice alerts through the speakers using the car's Bluetooth. Only true downside is that it obviously doesn't display the maps on the car's display.

Waze is awesome. I bought a little cel phone mount that attaches my phone to the air vent, especially in rental cars, but yes, I use it for road trips too. Nice to anticipate cars on the shoulder or police.

I think the guy suggested that someone contact him via PM for the disk. Since he only has 15 posts, it doesn't look like he is here on a daily basis and probably will never see your inquiry otherwise.

Are the Nav DVDs re-usable? Any authorization code needed to load into a different car of the same model?
