Like they say, Pictures worth a thousand words. I do highly reccomended costco for tires though. Even though the tire was ok they said it may bubble so I got a new $250 Michelin installed for a total of $0.00. Not so lucky on the rim though.

Ouch - damn DC area roads. I commute into DC every day and at times I feel like I am off-roading in car. At other times I am a driving a slalom course to avoid the pot holes.

I had a bulge in one of my tires last week too, really sucks.
I actually started taking a slightly different way to work because I think it happened on this really bad stretch near my house. I can drive about 2-3 minutes out of the way and avoid it which is nice.
the potholes are terrible right now though that is for sure.

I saw a news story here in Chicago that the city had already paid out X amount to drivers for pothole damage this year. I did a double take. I had no idea you could ask the city for compensation. http://chicityclerk.com/programs-ser...ck-your-claim/

^yeah, and you may be lucky to settle in a year or two. I am driving on a bubble from Milwaukee Avenue and just waiting for my tire to blow. I'm not replacing it until winter is over, and by the looks of the snow we got today I may have a long wait. This winter season has been ridiculous.

I actually submitted a claim for a flat tire damaged by a pothole to the DC government recently. Will let you guys know how it goes, as this appears to be a recurring problem. I am not holding my breath on any speedy decision.

Ouch! That is brutal!
Here in NY we have the roads so bad that we can bill the town and if the mechanic can prove to them the roads caused it they will pay for the damage. There was a lady who had $2,000 repair bill and the town covered it for her!

no repair, it was bent both lips and slightly cracked near the spoke. So it needed to be welded and then re finished. I went for a new wheel instead. It was only 2 weeks old.

Damn, sorry for your wheel, that's a nice dinger. Glad to hear she's back up running though. I swear, I have never seen roads this bad in all my life, and in such a large part of the Country. This winter really cost everyone across the board.

DC Metro Area has been brutal for me this season.. My commute has me on Cabin John which has been like a mine field the past few months. Three tires total and 2 rims needed to be repaired. $1100 total!!!! I have the paperwork to submit claim, which i am doing this week. Should be interesting to see if I get anything. Worst part is I literally laughed at finance agent when she brought up purchasing tire/rim insurance at lease signing... oh well

Yeesh... that is a nasty bend :-/
I bent both left side wheels on a pothole on Randolph Rd. in Silver Spring a few months back. Waiting to hear if I am going to get my $600 for 2 wheel repairs + alignment + balance back from the county.
I never even saw the damn thing coming.
I drove to the eastern shore both days this past weekend - Rt 50 has some heinous fissures that could swallow the entire width of a tire.
